ASHLEY KIM BOWMAN
July 3, 1980 — March 11, 2013
Ashley Kim Bowman, 32, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013.
She was born in Midland and was a “miracle” baby who survived insurmountable odds. Ashley attended the Regional Day School for the Deaf program at 18 months of age. At this very young age, she already could “sign” 35 words. The next school she attended was the Sunshine School for the Deaf in San Antonio. In elementary school, she attended school in Lindsay where she was a Knights cheerleader. Ashley was a “free” spirited young lady who loved the outdoors. Ashley was active in sports including basketball and soccer, and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
She graduated high school at the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin in 2000. Ashley was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a loving child who embraced life. Ashley faced many challenges growing up, but she always had a fiery spirit. This spirit was demonstrated as she fought a courageous battle against the cancer in her body. She is no longer suffering in pain and is resting in peace. Ashley brought much joy to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ellsworth and Doris Fisk and Bill and Nell Bowman; and uncles, Mike and Casey Bowman.
Ashley is survived by her father and stepmother, Patrick and Janet Bowman of Muenster; mother, Kathleen Fisk of Denton; her sister, Meredith Bowman of Lewisville; and her brother, Zachry Bowman of Lindsay. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. to celebrate Ashley’s life. Deacon Barry Sweeden will officiate the service. The church is located at 2255 N. Bonnie Brae St. in Denton.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ashley’s memory.
A garden is being built in memory of Monsignor Charles King, and donations will be used for the purchase of a sundial to be placed in the garden.
