Graveside services for Gerald Wayne Griffith, 70, of Gainesville, are set for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Woodbine with Pastor Kenneth Reiter officiating, under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012.

Gerald was born in Bowie on May 19, 1942, to Claude Lee and Jessie Lois Faulkner Griffith.

He passed away on Nov. 5, 2012, in Denton.

Gerald was a ranch hand and loved to rodeo. In the mid to late sixties, he rode bulls and bareback broncos professionally.

He is survived by his brother, C. L. Griffith Jr., of Forestburg; brother, Billy Joe Griffith of Panama City Beach, Fla.; sister, Sandra Kay Carrigan of Tioga; brother, Paul Ray Griffith of Wichita Falls; sister, Shirley Fay Griffith of Gainesville; brother, Matt Freddie Griffith of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elijah George Griffith; sister, Jessie Lee Griffith; sister, Mary Ann Burkhart; and brother, Van Gordon Griffith.

Marcus Ray Gray, 39, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, in Gainesville at North Texas Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 8, 1973, in Denton.

Survivors include parents, Bobby and Darlene Gray of Gainesville; and siblings, Carey Angerstein of Crockett, Louann White of Gainesville, Rocky Gray of Dallas, Jarrod Gray and Jason Gray of Gainesville and Zane White of Callisburg.

He had 10 nephews and five nieces who he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by brother, Bobby Lee Gray Jr.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Roselawn Cemetery in Denton.

Donations for burial will be taken by Carey Angerstein (at 936-222-3683) or Darlene Gray.



LAKE KIOWA — Funeral services for Sharon Francis Earl, 61, of Lake Kiowa, are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Kersey officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.  

Sharon passed away Nov. 2, 2012, in Lake Kiowa.

Mrs. Earl was born July 12, 1951, in Duncan, Okla., to Vernie R. Manuel and Ollie E. Davis.

Sharon loved her family and friends and would do anything for anyone.  She enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time on her back porch.  She has many friends who love her and will miss her very much.  She worked as a nurse tech at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman for several years prior to taking care of her dying mother.

Mrs. Earl is survived by her husband Ron Earl of Lake Kiowa; sons and daughter-in-law Robert W. Mitchell, Sr. of Gainesville; Aaron and Kim Earl of Gainesville; Robert W. Mitchell, Jr.; daughters and son-in-law Jennifer and Chris Tipps of Sanger; Kristil Mitchell of Little Rock, AR; Christina Joslin of Gainesville; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, and one sister.

FORT STOCKTON — Raymond Donald Siegmund, longtime resident of Fort Stockton, passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, following a lengthy illness. He was 88 years old.

Mr. Siegmund was born in Gainesville on Nov. 28, 1923. His parents were Otto Bernhardt Siegmund, a German immigrant and farmer, and Louise Emily Jander from Muenster.

Ray married Melba Jo Sipes on July 21, 1951, in Wheeler, where he worked as a county agricultural extension agent and she was a secretary with the Soil Conservation Service. They are the parents of two sons, Eric Don, born in 1952, and Reid Brent, born in 1955.

He had a 31-year career with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, including 24 years as district agent in Fort Stockton. For a number of years following his retirement in 1980, he managed the contract landscape business he founded, Trans Pecos Plants.

For many years, Ray and his family have been active members of First Baptist Church of Fort Stockton, where Ray served as a deacon, choir member and Sunday school teacher for decades.  He was also a 4-H leader, a charter member of the Fort Stockton Rotary Club, and a member, ambassador and president of the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce.  Ray also served as chairman of the West Pecos chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Robert and Joe. He is survived by his wife, Melba Jo of Fort Stockton; his sons, Eric (Debbie) of Midland and Brent (Lisa) of Fort Stockton. He is also survived by siblings, John (Joy) of Denton; Martin (Jane) of Aledo; Alice Davidson of Muenster; Sally Bush of Arlington; Margaret Langford of Albuquerque, N.M.; and David (Susan) of Fernandina Beach, Fla. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Vistiation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Heritage Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Fort Stockton.  

Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Schmeltekopf presiding over both services.

Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.



ARLINGTON -- Graveside services for Lois A. McKinney Knight, 91, of Arlington, are set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville under the direction of Arlington Funeral Home.

Mrs. Knight died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012.

Survivors include children, Kathy Borton and Jerry Knight; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services for Rebecca McLeroy Schafer, 52, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Gainesville with the Rev. Don Yeager officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

She died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in Gainesville.

She was born June 11, 1960, in Gainesville.

Survivors include children, Keith Grice King II of Callisburg and Dalton Lee Schafer of Houston; siblings, Dr. Robert Reagan McLeroy and Kathleen McLeroy of Gainesville, Patty M. Poore of Arlington and Le'Ann Santone of Madison, Conn.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is set for 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
