HELEN RUTH OTTO ARENDT

A funeral Mass for Helen Ruth Otto Arendt, 85, of Gainesville is pending with the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Helen passed away on Feb. 13, 2013, in Gainesville.

Helen was born on Nov. 24, 1927, to William and Anna Reiter Otto in Muenster.

She was a beautician for many years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gainesville.

Helen is survived by daughters, Gayle Arendt and her husband William Galloway of Los Angeles, Calif., Nancy Dawdy and her husband Garry of Denver, Colo., Arlene Timmins and her husband Ronnie of Gainesville, Robbi Arendt and her husband David Donovan of Jersey City, N.J., and Claudia Laster and her finance Robert Ledford of Gainesville, and son Bill Arendt and his wife Val of Gainesville; also her grandchildren, Chris and Geoff Dawdy, Darrel, G.W. and Teresa Timmins, Ginger Price, Emily Erin, and Gabriel Arendt, Teresa McCarty, Mellissa Scoggins, and Jessica and Rebecca Laster; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbert Otto and his wife Ruby of Arlington, and Ken Otto and his wife Pat of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Virginia Dougherty and her husband Wallace of Gainesville and Pat Shoemaker and husband Jim of Plano; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Otto of Gainesville; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur “Artie” Arendt; parents; and brother, Clifford Otto.

JACKIE RALPH  BENNETT

Funeral services for Jackie Ralph Bennett, 64, of Gainesville, are set for Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Bennett officiating with burial to follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jackie went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013.

Jackie was born on Feb. 16, 1948, in Gainesville to Jack and Sylvia Holland Bennett.

He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Jackie was an accomplished musician who most in the music community knew as “Texas Jack.” He played in various venues across North America, playing with Willie Nelson and George Strait, among many others. Jackie was of the Baptist faith and loved to travel.

Jackie is survived by his mother, Sylvia Bennett of Gainesville; son, Jack Bennett of Gainesville; two grandchildren, Nicole Bennett of Colorado, and Austin Bennett of Wyoming; brothers, Robert Bennett and his wife Kathy of McKinney, Donald Bennett and his wife Cathy of Denton and Mike Bennett of Oklahoma City; and sister, Jan Robeson and her husband Bob of Gainesville. He is also survived by an uncle, Clyde Bennett and his wife Ruth of Gainesville; aunt, Glenda Goodman of Houma, La.; and several nieces and nephews, including Sylvia Robeson of Gainesville.

He was predeceased by his father, Jack Bennett; sister-in-law, Beth Bennett; nephew, Cory Bennett; and great-niece, Kayla Williams.

JOE ALLEN LAW

Joe Allen Law, 75, of Gainesville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013.

Joe was born Oct. 15, 1937, to Vesta Lucille Bryd and Allen Law.

He married Mildred A. Law in 1966.

There will be a memorial service held at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey with the Rev. Gene King officiating.

Joe is survived by wife, Mildred A. Law; and six children, Deborah Jones of Gainesville, Brenda Stone of Cleburne, Patsy LaCroix of Gainesville, Cindy Simpkins of Corinth, JoAnn Hillard of Gainesville and Brenda Goins of Denton; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey.

OLA WELCH

Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ola Welch, 95, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Denton Rehab Center.  

She was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Marysville to Richard R. and Dona (Sharp) Tucker.  

Ola married Cecil W. Welch on Dec. 18, 1935, in Muenster.  She worked with Cecil on their family dairy farm and also had worked in sales at the sewing center. Mrs. Welch was a member of the Hood Community Improvement Club and Era United Methodist Church.  Ola loved to sew and do handwork.

Funeral services for Ola Welch are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Era United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rich McGee and the Rev. Larry Kruger officiating.

Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  

Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville.  

Pallbearers will be Mark Luebke, Michael Luebke, Bryan Hammons, Allen Welch, Dan Orr and Don Garner.  Charles Smith, Al Smith, Jerry Lewis, Lanny Lewter, Joe Weber, William Charles Welch, John Welch, Rich McGee and Lee Gano will be honorary pallbearers.

Survivors of Ola Welch include daughter, Wanda Luebke and husband John of Gainesville; daughter, Patricia Hammons and husband Leroy of Krugerville; son, C.W. Welch, Jr. and wife Sue of Wylie; sister, Ruby Nell Pearson of Dallas; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Dona Tucker; husband, Cecil Welch; daughter, Elaine Herr and her husband Melvin; grandson, Charles Mitchell; and 12 siblings.

MARGARET LAVERNE FLEITMAN

NOCONA — A funeral Mass for Margaret Laverne Fleitman, 71, of Nocona, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Nocona with Fr. Richard Collins officiating.

Burial will follow in Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fleitman died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in Wichita Falls.

She was born Nov. 25, 1941, in Cycle, Okla.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Fleitman of Nocona; children, Arlinda Reed of San Antonio, Tim Reed and LaCrisha Skinner of Nocona, Rusty Reed of Lindsay, Vicki Esquivel of Gilroy, Calif., and Tony Fleitman of The Colony; sister, Lola Lyssy of Lampas; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A Rosary is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Susan B. Komen for the Cure.



NORBERT L. FLUSCHE, JR.

SAINT JO — Funeral services for Norbert L. Flusche, Jr., 70, of Saint Jo, are set for 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster with the Rev. Ken Robinson officiating.

Burial will follow in McGrady Cemetery near Saint Jo under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Flusche died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Denton Regional Hospital.

He was born Aug. 13, 1942, in Gainesville.

Survivors include wife, Lina Jo Flusche of Saint Jo; children, Norbra Young, Vicky Graham and Randall Flusche; siblings, Mary Wisdom and Lou Ann Poynor; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Trust Fund or the McGrady Cemetery Fund, c/o First State Bank in Saint Jo.

HELEN M. KOEHLER

Graveside services for Helen M. Koehler, 88, are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa with Keith Ferrer officiating under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Mrs. Koehler died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Gainesville.

She was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Gainesville.

Survivors include sons, Kinzy Ray Wright of Gainesville, David Koehler of McKinney and Raymond Eric Koehler of Pampa; sister, Katherine Norris of Gainesville; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

JOSEPHINE “JAKE” SCHILLING

MUENSTER — Funeral services for Josephine “Jake” Schilling, 95, of Muenster, are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster with the Rev. Ken Robinson and the Rev. Kyle Walterscheid officiating.

Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Muenster under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Muenster.

Mrs. Schilling died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Muenster Health & Rehab in Muenster.

She was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Muenster.

Survivors include children, Carrie Ann Walterscheid, Dianne Bedolla, Yvonne Ambrose, Monica Haverkamp and James Gehrig; siblings, Jeanette Hellinger and Don Muller; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

IMOGENE BARKER SCHMITZ

THACKERVILLE, OKLA. — Graveside services for Imogene Barker Schmitz, 85, of Thackerville, Okla., are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at New Rest Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Sconce officiating.  

Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home.  

Mrs. Schmitz died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Marietta, Okla.

She was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Callisburg.  

Survivors include sons, Shelly Barker of Thackerville, Okla., and Richard Barker of Marietta, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
