DAVID CLAY YANDELL
Born June 9, 1942, in Tahoka, Texas, David Clay Yandell started a life that would have an impact on every person lucky enough to meet him.
Clay was a man with many different titles, each as meaningful as the other. Whether to you he was Daddy, Pappy, brother, uncle, cousin or friend, special is what he was to everyone.
Dedicated to helping others, he was a Navy Corpsman attached to the 1st Marine Division during the Vietnam War, firefighter for the Richland Hills Fire Department and worked for the Cooke County EMS.
On the morning of September 23, 2013, Clay went from being one of the brightest men we know to one of the brightest angels in Heaven. He passed with his girls, family, and friends by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Eunice Yandell; brother, Haskell Yandell; wife, Jimmie Yandell; and son, David Clay Yandell Jr.
He was survived by daughters, Jamie Russell, Michelle Jenkins, Laura Mitchell and Linda LaRue; sons-in-law, Bryan LaRue and Wesley Jenkins; grandchildren, Anna, Buck, Drew, Savannah, Garrett, Roger, Lauren, Wes, Lindsay, Chelsea, David, Clay, Keira, Kenlee, Cory, Brandon, Zach, Brooke and Wyatt; great-grandkids, Avery, Eli, Kimber, Zoey, Emerson, Braylon, Noah, Caden and Lucy; brothers and sisters, Jackie and Winnifer Yandell, Melvin and Sherry Jones, Tommy and Brenda Shugart, Jim and Linda French, Ann Garretson, Jess and Dawn Kitchens and Maverick and Terry Kitchens.
Although he is gone, a little piece of him still lives on in each and every one of us. The tears we shed now will be forever forgotten as hugs and kisses are exchanged when we meet again in Heaven. A couple of things he would want us to always remember are “be careful” and “let’s not rush things.”
Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at VFW Post 1922 in Gainesville.
