VELVA KOEBELEN

Services for Velva Koebelen, 85, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Hare officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held before the service from 1 to 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Mrs. Koebelen passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, in Gainesville.

She was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Oklahoma City to Bernard and Mabel Eggleston O’Hara.  

She grew up in Tuttle, Okla.  She attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla., where she received a bachelor’s degree in home economics.  She also attended Texas Women’s University where she pursued a master’s degree.  She married Lloyd Koebelen on Aug. 5, 1951, in Lone Wolf, Okla.  They moved to Texas in 1952, and have resided in Gainesville since 1959.  Mrs. Koebelen taught high school vocational home economics for 43 years.  She taught in Lone Wolf, Okla., Gainesville, Collinsville and Callisburg.  She retired from teaching in July of 1993.  

While living in Gainesville, she sponsored the Future Homemakers of America, and was a teacher trainer for student teachers at Texas Women’s University and North Texas University.  She was a charter member of Vocational Home Economics Teachers of Texas and served on the State Advisory Council for many years.  Velva was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, V.F.W. Auxilliary, Post 1922, and was a former Camp Fire Girls leader.  She was a beloved member and faithful servant of First Presbyterian Church.  She sang in the choir for many years and was a charter member of Mariners and a lifetime member of Presbyterian Women.

She is survived by daughters, Loy Ann Richardson and Jan Autry and husband Corie; grandsons, Patrick, Ryan and Kevin Richardson and Matthew Autry, all of Gainesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Florence O’Hara of El Reno, Okla., and Forrest and Loretta O’Hara of Tuttle, Okla.; sister-in-law, Ida Lou Melot of Weatherford, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.

KATHY JO (RASURE) SMITH

EDMOND, OKLA. — Kathy Jo (Rasure) Smith, 66, of Edmond, Okla., passed away Aug. 13, 2012, in Englewood, Colo.  

She was born Nov. 27, 1945, in Earlsboro, Okla., to Cleo Malcolm and Kathleen Rasure.

Kathy was always a teacher at heart.  She earned her master’s degree from the University of North Texas in business education in 1969.  Over the years she taught classes from pre-school through college, as well as Bible school classes at church.  

She was an owner of The Country Kingdom (a Montessori school and day care she helped start).  Most recently she managed a tag agency in Edmond, until she retired in 2010.

She enjoyed genealogy, reading, quilting and crossword puzzles.  

She loved to sew and enjoyed helping with the sewing ministry at the Edmond Church of Christ, where she had been a member for over 20 years.  

Her favorite activity was spending time with her family.

Kathy is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) of 42 years; son, Chris Smith and wife Marcee of Ft. Smith, Ark.; daughters, Debbie Hubbard and husband Jordan of Belton and Jenni Hoban and husband Patrick of Edmond, Okla.; sisters, Patricia Tribble of Denton and Peggy Petty and husband Don of Nacogdoches; brothers, Malcolm Rasure and wife Marsha of McKinney and William Rasure and wife Bonnie of Marietta, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Lauren Dennison, Larson Hoban, Madison Clark, Jenae Hubbard, Vincent Hoban, Avery Hubbard, Gwenyth Hoban and Jarrett Hubbard; two uncles, Raymon Rasure and Joe Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is set for 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, Okla.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Edmond Church of Christ.  

Interment will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.

CARMELITA McDANIEL EAST

WHITESBORO — Memorial services for Carmelita McDaniel East, 75, are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro.

Mrs. East died Aug. 12, 2012, in Whitesboro.

She was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Tulsa, Okla.

Survivors include children, Dawn Capps and Heather East; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

DOUGLAS “PAPA” FRANK MOORE

RATLIFF CITY, Okla. — Funeral services for Douglas “Papa” Frank Moore, 58, of Ratliff City, Okla., are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville with the Rev. Larry Argo and Rev. Wynes Manney officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Gainesville.

Mr. Moore died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, in Ardmore, Okla.

He was born March 4, 1954, in Hobbs, N.M.

Survivors include his wife, Debbi Moore of Ratliff City, Okla; children, Frank Moore of Ratliff City, Okla.,  J.R. Moore of Forestburg, Matt Moore of Forestburg, Carrie Barber of Graham, Okla.; siblings, Densel Moore of Macomb, Okla., Danny Moore of Bowie, Dewayne Moore of Collinsville, Era Mercer of Mannsville, Okla., Barbara Riddles of Forestburg and  Nelda Rohrer of Gainesville; and 20 grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

EMMA BELLE TRUITT

WHITESBORO — Funeral services for Emma Belle Truitt, 91, are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with the Rev. Lonnie Dotson officiating.  

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Truitt died Aug. 15, 2012, in Gainesville.

She was born on June 12, 1921, in Myra.

Survivors include her children, Robert Truitt of Jacksonville, Eddie Truitt of Gainesville, Rosalee Truitt of Whitesboro and Doris Hilliard of Sanger; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
