WILLIE ANN HAWTHORNE

CLAWSON

Willie Ann Hawthorne Clawson passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, in Gainesville at the age of 99.  

She was born July 29, 1913, on the family farm in Hughes County, Okla., to William Charles and Caldonia Melissa Evans Hawthorne.  

In later years the family moved to Holdenville, Okla., where Willie Ann met and married her high school sweetheart, Homer Lloyd Clawson, in June 1931.  They had three children, Loy Jean, Donna Wilene and their much beloved (by all four) son, William Robert (Billy Bob), now deceased.

During WWII, while Homer was stationed in Adek, Alaska, for two years, Willie Ann worked for Beach Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., as an inspector (almost Rosie the Riveter!). When Homer's tour in Alaska ended, the family lived in Seattle, Wash., and Alexandria, Va.  After time in the military ended, the family lived in Monument, N.M., Norman, Okla., and finally Gainesville, where Homer worked for the Gainesville Register.  During these years, Willie Ann, an accomplished seamstress, worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company.  She also worked as an inspector for Texas Instruments.

For their 50th wedding anniversary, a family reunion was held in Oklahoma City.  Since Willie Ann and her three surviving sisters and Homer and his three brothers were all from Holdenville, and all knew each other, it was a great get-together. Sixty relatives attended.

For 21 years following his stroke in 1993, Willie Ann was Homer's loving caregiver.  We consider her a heroine for the dedicated care she gave him.

Willie Ann is survived by daughters, Donna Cloer and husband, Sam of Gainesville and Loy Riggs of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Deann Paradise of Gainesville, Keith Cloer and wife Annette of Mulkelteo, Wash., and Craig and Doug Riggs of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Michael Paradise of Gainesville and Ryann and Adam Riggs of Ponca City, Okla., and sister-in-law, Claudine Clawson of Vivian, La.  

Preceding Willie Ann in death were her husband; parents; son; sisters, Eva Horne, Sallie Hawthorne, Lela Davis and Pearl Rhoton; and brother, Clarence Hawthorne; son-in-law, David Riggs; and all other sisters and brothers-in-law.

The family wishes to thank the members and pastor of First Baptist Church and other family friends for their faithful visits to cheer Willie Ann at Gainesville Health and Rehab Center.  We also appreciate the loving care given to our mother by the staff at the care center and employees of Home Hospice of Cooke County.  Thank God for you all!!

Funeral services for Willie Ann Clawson will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Meador-Clement-Keel Chapel with the Rev. Hubert Wright officiating.  

Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery. Doug Riggs, Craig Riggs, Keith Cloer, Adam Riggs, Michael Paradise and Hart Clawson will serve as honorary pallbearers.

SHIRLEY CROWSEY

Shirley May Crowsey, 75, of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in Denton.  

A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Bill Black officiating.

Mrs. Crowsey was born Feb. 19, 1937, in Whitesboro to J.D. and Pearl Turner Williams.  

On May 5, 1956, she married Ancil Crowsey in Gainesville.  Mr. Crowsey passed away Oct. 29, 1984.  Four years later on Oct. 1, 1988, Mrs. Crowsey married J.W. Trisler in Gainesville. Mr. Trisler then passed away on Jan. 1, 1998.

Mrs. Crowsey thoroughly enjoyed bird watching and volunteering with ABBA.  She took great pleasure in spending time with family and friends.  Mrs. Crowsey adored her church, Grand Avenue Baptist, where she was a member of the choir.

Survivors include daughter, Tammi Crowsey of Sanger; daughter, Penny Tibbets and husband Michael of Paris; son, Brad Crowsey and wife Carmen of Whitesboro; daughter, Patti Knight and husband Gary of Gainesville; grandchildren, Nicole McKinney, Blake Crutsinger, Madison Wimmer, Collin Hall, Parker Tibbets, Victoria Crowsey, Lundi Knight and Alexandria Knight; great-grandchildren, Alyssa McKinney, Avery and Keller Crutsinger, Presley and Luke Wimmer, and Ashley and Ethan Hall; and sister, Betty Moody of Denton.

Mrs. Crowsey is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, A.J. Williams; sister, Billie Branch; brother, Sonny Williams; sister, Elsie Chilcoat; and grandson, Michael Knight.

WILLIAM “BILL” FRY

GORDONVILLE — Funeral services for William “Bill” Fry, 77, of Gordonville are set for Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Loewen officating, with burial to follow in the IOOF cemetery in Denton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bill passed away on Nov. 20, 2012, in Dallas, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on Nov. 29, 1934, in Breckenridge to James and Reba Lester Fry.

Bill graduated from the University of North Texas and served in the United States Army and operated Fry Motor Shop in Denton. He also enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and family genealogy, but most of all, enjoyed loving his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sidney Fry; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Cindy Fry of Gainesville, Brian and Sylvia Fry of Ennis and daughter and son-in-law Dana and Stacy Craddock of Krum; grandchildren, Tyler and Jessica Schneider, Katie and Shane Britain, Austin, Alex and Evan Fry and Cory and Callie Craddock; great-grandchild, Creek Britian; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Karen Fry; and brother-in-law, Joe and his wife Sylvia Hill.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Schneider, Shane Britain, Cory Craddock, Austin Fry, Alex Fry and Evan Fry.

EVA DALENE HARRELL

Funeral services for Eva Dalene Harrell, 83, of Gainesville are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Yeager officating with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dalene passed away on Nov. 20, 2012, at her home.

Dalene was born on Jan. 15, 1929, in Gainesville to William and Helen Ballard Barlow.

Dalene worked at Weber for many years, served as treasurer at the First Methodist Church, was a excellent seamstress, volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Gainesville Memorial Hospital, loved to bake sweets and enjoyed reading a good book. But most of all, she enjoyed her family.

Dalene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Mechal Harrell; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Danny Jones; and grandchildren, William and Laura Harrell and Stephanie Harrell and Klay Jones.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Harrell, William Harrell, Klay Jones, Andy Crow, Michael Sandmann and Robert Thacker. Honorary pallbearer is Brad Bugg.

Dalene was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Max Harrell.

HAROLD ZUNK

GORDONVILLE — Funeral services for Harold Bernard Zunk, 94, of Gordonville, are set for 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Harold was born on July 24, 1918, in Toledo, Ohio.

He passed away on Nov. 18, 2012, in Sherman.

Harold was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army. He retired from National Supply after 35 years. Harold loved to travel, and was the last surviving charter member of the Gainesville Boat Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Westbrook of Newark; son, Larry Zunk of Gordonville; son, Terry Zunk of Red Bluff, Calif.; grandchildren, Debbie Mattox, Cathy Huckaby, Allen Westbrook, Cheryl McRee, Michelle Hickman and Jason Zunk. He is also survived by a sister, Kay Lawther; and five great-grandchildren.

ROYCE DEAN “PUD” ALBERT

BEVERLY ANN ALFORD

Memorial services for Beverly Ann Alford, 68, of Gainesville, are set for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at First Baptist Church Oak Ridge with Travis Alford officiating.  

Mrs. Alvord died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.

She was born June 8, 1944, in Holten, Kan.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas “Travis” Alford of Gainesville; daughter, Sarah Jo Whitehead of Gainesville; siblings, Carol Shipman and John Bostwick of Topeka, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

DALE RICHARD SWIRCZYNSKI

MUENSTER — Funeral services for Dale Richard Swirczynski, 48, of Muenster, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster with Rev. Ken Robinson, Rev. Kyle Walterscheid and Rev. Gary Swirczynski officiating under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Swirczynski died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in Muenster.

He was born March 8, 1964, in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Jill Ann Swirczynski of Muenster; children, Hillary and Tara Swirczynski of Muenster; mother, Dorothy Swirczynski of Muenster; and siblings, Kathleen Marie Sicking, Janet Sue Endres, Joyce Ann Kindiger and Shirley Marie Endres.

A Rosary and vigil are set for 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster.

Mr. Traffanstedt died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, in Haskel.

He was born Nov. 4, 1934.
