FREDERICK J. SCHMITZ
Frederick J. (Freddy) Schmitz, longtime resident of Gainesville, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the age of 90.
Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the Geo. J. Carroll Funeral Home.
Freddy was born April 14, 1922, in Lindsay to Mary Bezner and John Schmitz. He attended school in Lindsay. He was inducted into the Army Air Corps on Dec. 27, 1942, at Camp Wolters, Texas. He served at Sheppard Field in Wichita Falls, Texas, and received advanced training in Florida and New Mexico. As a waist gunner on a B-24 bomber, he flew 30 missions in Northern France, the Normandy invasion and Central Europe. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, EAME Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged from the service at Keesler Field, Mississippi, on Oct. 20, 1945.
After his discharge, he purchased Embry Coin Machines which he named Schmitz Coin Machines, and operated the business for more than 50 years. He married Oleta Rosson Bezner on Nov. 15, 1950. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and golf.
Freddy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Oleta; two sons, Buster Bezner and wife Marcy and Mike Schmitz and wife Marcia; four grandchildren, Rae Ann Gerken (Jeff), Robby Bezner (Carmen), Melinda Schmitz and Justin Schmitz (Karah); and six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah and Mary Gerken, Madison and Blake Bezner, and Harper Grace Schmitz. He is also survived by two sisters, Rosalee Cox and Marcy Wilde of Muenster; brother, Leroy Schmitz of Valley View; sister-in-law, Treba Dobkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard and John; and two sisters, Sally Theimer and Gertie Horn.
Nephews Danny Wilde, Tommy Schmitz, Bobby Schmitz, Joe Schmitz, John Schmitz and Steve Schmitz will serve as pallbearers.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Mary’s School, 931 N. Weaver, Gainesville, TX 76240.

DOROTHY WALDENE ARY CHISAM
VALLEY VIEW — Funeral services for Dorothy Waldene Ary Chisam, 92, of Valley View, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Valley View Church of Christ, with Kenneth Cebrun Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
A visitation will start at 10 a.m., one hour before the service at the church.
Dorothy was born in Coleman on Aug. 14, 1920, to Luther and Birda Mae Pridemore Ary.
She passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in Gainesville.
Dorothy lived in Valley View and married Isaac Ferdinand “Snooks” Chisam on Oct. 26, 1939. She was a dedicated homemaker and seamstress. She also worked for the Valley View ISD for 21 years. She was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Bobby Chisam and wife Judi of Lewisville; daughter-in-law. Margie Carol Chisam of Valley View; granddaughters, Jennifer Beam of Frisco and Kristin Wurzbach of San Antonio; grandsons, Jeff Chisam of Valley View, and Matt Chisam of Phoenix, Ariz.; and great-grandchildren, Dustie Powers, Corie Chisam, Julia Beam, Easton Chisam and Holden Chisam.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Ferd; and a son, Gary Chisam.

DARREL DEAN BERNDT
Graveside services for Darrel Dean Berndt, 80, are set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Berndt died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Dalworthington Gardens.
He was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Morgan County, Ill.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Marie; children, Madison, Vincent and Cristen; and three grandchildren.

MUENSTER — Funeral services for Marguerite “Kitty” King, 100, of Muenster, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at First Baptist Church Muenster with the Rev. Michael Wood and the Rev. Ralph Gourley officiating.
Burial will follow in Hood Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Muenster.
Ms. King died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Muenster Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 3, 2012, in San Antonio.

Memorial services for Daniel Lane, 34, of Gainesville, are set for 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Leonard Park Pavillion.

Mr. Lane died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, in Gainesville.
He was born July 25, 1978, in Little Rock, Ark.
