First United Methodist Church welcomes you to worship with us Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. We are located at 214 S. Denton Street. Childcare is available for ages 5 and under.

Our 8:30 worship is a little more relaxed but always includes beautiful music.  The 10:45 service is traditional and features hymns, organ, piano, and choir and also often includes music from our handbells, children’s and youth choirs. Children are welcome in worship and we include a Children’s Sermon at each service.  We offer Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month.

Join us this Sunday, Dec. 30, for worship at either 8:30 or 10:45 a.m. Rev. Don Yeager’s sermon is titled, “The Power of Family,” based on Luke 2:41-52, the story of Jesus in the Temple at age twelve  There will also be a “Blessing of the Toys” for the children, who are invited to bring a favorite Christmas toy.  

The Children on Wednesday program will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 9. For any questions regarding this program please contact the church office at 665-3926.

The Sarah Circle will be meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the home of Robyn Hedrick. We will gather at the church for those wishing to vanpool at 5:45 p.m. A light meal will be served and a brief meeting held. The program for the evening will be presented by Abigail’s Arms. If childcare is needed please contact the church office. All women are invited to attend this event.

Second Time Around is a re-sale ministry that carries a wide variety of gently used clothing, books, household items, and furniture and has been serving the community and those in need since the 1970’s. Eula West was responsible for starting what was a small mission service and it has grown to serve more than just Cooke County. Profit from Second Time Around sales is given to mission projects of the church which include global-wide missions. Many needy persons are also helped free of charge.  The store is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Second Time Around is located at 105 S. Denton Street and welcomes donations and shoppers.

The youth hours for Winter are Jr. High youth meeting on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. No snack supper will be served. On Sunday’s Youth in handbells will meet from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. followed by all youth UMYF from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Snack supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, Jan. 6, there will be a meeting for those interested in going on the Sr. High Mission trip (Youth completing 8th – 12th grades). The meeting is at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Center. A meeting to discuss the spring calendar will follow the Mission Trip meeting. Grand Avenue Baptist Church

Welcome to Grand Ave. Baptist  Church, located at 600 N. Grand Ave., just across the street from Dollar General. Since there is no parking on Grand Ave. we have paved, off-street parking and entrances on the east side, on Clements St.

We start Sunday at 9 a.m. with coffee and breakfast in the Fellowship Hall followed by Sunday School for all ages at 9:30 a.m. and Morning Worship at 10:40 a.m.  The nursery opens ay 10:40 a.m. and we have a Children’s Church during the Morning Worship.

Evening Service is at 6 p.m. in the little chapel.

Wednesday Prayer Meeting and Youth Get-together is at 7 p.m. in Fellowship  Hall.

Mary Friddell opened the Morning Worship with prayer.

George Garner and Choice Stephens took up the offering as Suzanne Carpenter played “What Child Is This?” on the grand piano.  Our youngest choir member, Emma Green, sang “Hark! the Herald Angels  Sing” and “Silent Night.”  Rick Collett sang “Mary, Did You Know?”

Josh Carpenter passed out Christmas pens to those in the audience.  We wished Barbara Roberson a happy birthday and happy 60th anniversary to Hugh and  Marcia Porter.

Bro. Bill Black’s sermon was from Matthew 2:1-12.  The wise men saw a special star and followed it, looking for the new king of the Jews.  They brought gifts with them, gold, frankincense  and myrrh.  Cruel King Herod had the children in Bethlehem killed.  But Joseph, Mary and Jesus fled to Egypt where they were safe, thanks to the gifts from the Magi.  These wise men found the Lord because it was important.  What about us?

Prairie Grove Baptist Church

The Sunday started out exciting, the pastor Bro. John Wofford had coffee and snacks all set up for the Sunday School class.

Mary Fay Jackson brought a message in songs. The congregation enjoyed her music. A friend of Mary Fay's, Sheila, testified to the church. This was very uplifting to all.

Bro John led the Christmas Eve service, and what a wonderful way to celebrate the day before Christmas. Bro. John explained that Christmas is all about the presents. The presents of Jesus, the presents of Jesus dying for us on the cross. Mary made her appearence and gave us a look at the inn keeper. She explained to us what the inn keeper went through. She explained how the inn was full and there was no room for her, but how they were offered the stable and how the baby Jesus was wrapped in rags. What a humble beginning.

We took the Lord's Supper, as Bro.John explained to us why we take the Lord's Supper still.

"Open your eyes, stand up for Christ." Please join us.

Vilott Baptist Church

 We will start this new year as we ended the last, praying for each and everyone. If the Lord tarries in His return, we will continue to serve Him here.

His promises to bless us and answer our prayers are before us daily. We search His Word for our comfort and study to be better Christians.

Westminster Presbyterian Church

All Visitors and Residents of Gainesville are cordially invited to worship the Lord Jesus at Westminster Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) each Sunday and Wednesday. WPC is a Conservative Evangelical Protestant Reformed church. Our worship service is very traditional using the ACTS form of worship: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Dress is always casual.

Sunday School is at 9:45 am and our Worship Service is in the main sanctuary at 10:45 am.

The Sunday Evening Worship is at 6 p.m. and Wednesday Bible Study is at 7 p.m. Both meet in the Fellowship Hall.  Choir rehearsals are held Sundays at 4:30 pm.  

The next Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study will be Saturday, 12 JAN at 8 am. Priscilla Circle for women will meet Jan 12 at noon.  Both meet in Grace Fellowship Hall.

This Sunday, Dec. 30, Pastor Darrell McIntyre will be on vacation so Rev John Brown will conduct the morning service.

The Choir will also will be take a brief break.

There will be a time of fellowship in Grace Hall before church.  There will be a soup luncheon after the service.

The evening service will be our 5th Sunday Sing.  Come join us and sing your favorite hymns
