Sunday review

Marcia Porter opened the Morning Worship with prayer.  Choice Stephens

and Rick Collett took up the offering.  Since it was Penny Sunday at

Grand Avenue Harley Harendt and Kylie Innis pulled the little red

wagon around to collect the pennies. Suzanne Carpenter played “In The

Garden” on the grand piano.

Our special music was Suzanne Carpenter singing “More of You” and

accompanying herself on the piano.

Bro. Bill Black’s sermon was from Acts 22:21-22.  How can we know if

we are successful in our Christian walk?  The answer to that is

obedience. God told Paul to “Go, I will send you far away to the

Gentiles.” When the Jews in Jerusalem heard this they said “Rid the

earth of him.  He is not fit to live.”  Paul thought his sermons were

not a success, but he was faithful to do God’s will.  We should be

prepared to give an answer for the joy within us.

Choice Stephens gave the benediction.

 Service times

At Grand Avenue we start Sunday morning at 9 a.m. with coffee and

St. Peter’s Catholic Church

The Handbell choir of First Baptist Church in Sanger will present a

concert of music at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lindsay, on Sunday,

May 20 at 5:30 p.m. The handbell choir has performed throughout the

state as well as in Spoleto, Italy. The public is cordially invited to

attend, and there is no charge for admission.

Handbells are small, hand-held bells played by groups of individuals,

cooperating musically much like a vocal choir. The art form came to

the US at the beginning of the twentieth century from England, where

they were derived from playuing the more famous and larger bells often

found in church towers. St. Peter’s Church welcomes you to hear this

beautiful music in the inspiring space of its majestic 1918 church.

Vilott Baptist Church

We run to our mothers with every kind of problem, knowing they will

understand and fix it. Volumes can be written about the relationship

of mother and child. We set aside one day in the year to repay all

that care honoring Mother's Day. We will buy flowers and maybe take

them to lunch or purchase a card.

We have a much better way to honor your mother. Vilott Baptist Church

invites you to attend church on Sunday morning. Come join in the

fellowship breakfast at 9:30 a.m. followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m.

The worship service at 11 a.m. starts with a chance for you to stand

beside mom and sing the old hymns. God has a special message to be

delivered by our pastor, Rick Isham.

We know there are people whose mothers are no longer with us. This a

great way to honor her — attend church. Mothers, this is also a good

time to get your children to attend. Ask them to join you, and you are

setting the example.

Activities and meeting times

Vilott Baptist Church has so much to offer throughout the year. We

have something for everyone all the time. Wednesday nights we have

small groups and Bible studies for the adults and TeamKid for the

children. This starts with a meal at 6 p.m. We prepare a meal for

everyone who wants to attend. This gives families a chance to gather

in church.

There is a small group meeting on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. with

Bible studies also followed by a meal.

If you or your family is in need of prayer or counseling, please call

Rick Isham at 940-665-1629.

18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on

earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all

nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and

of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have

commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the

age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

Whaley United Methodist Church

We never like to be told what to do, but we know that part of the

Christian life is following God’s commandments.  In John 15, Jesus

gives the church a new commandment: that we love one another.  Does

this command make things easier or harder for us to obey God?  Can

anyone command us to love?  What keeps us from showing love?  Join us

for worship this Sunday with the sermon, “Love: Do We Have To?”

Our service schedule

We worship in traditional style at 9 a.m. and contemporary style at 11
