Church news 8-17

Callisburg United Methodist Church

Our church is located at 123 Oscar Cole Street in Callisburg, Texas and you are invited to attend our services.  Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. and church begins at 11 a.m.  Our Pastor is Kathy J. Brown.  She can be reached at (940)300-1278 or at the church at 940-665-1985.

Pastor Kathy led the church in the Affirmation of Faith.  Barbara Pollard had the Children’s Time.

Pastor Kathy’s sermon was titled “Eternal Life as a Present Possession.”  Pastor Kathy read from the New Testament: John 6:35, 41-51.

Ushers for the month are Bob Henderson and Dale Hassell.

Announcements:

Aug. 17: Church Swimming Party from 6 to 8 p.m. at Monta & Kim Sewell’s house.  Hot dogs will be served.  Bring your favorite dessert.

Aug. 18:  Baby Shower for Karly Holder from 1 to 3 p.m. at Church fellowship hall.

Aug. 19:  The church will celebrate its birthday with a dinner to be held in the fellowship hall after church.  Bring a covered dish.

Sept. 8:  Community Center Garage Sale. Contact Betty Henderson for questions.

Sept. 12: KFC resumes.

Sept. 15: The church’s annual Harvest Sale.  This year we will have a Fish Fry.

Calvary Baptist Church

Sunday morning Dr. Sutton will continue our study, “Nehemiah, the Rebuilding Project.” This week we will be looking at Nehemiah Chapter 2.

The Revelation

Our Wednesday evening Bible study is a verse by verse study of Revelation. After Bible study we spend time praying for spiritual and physical needs of family and friends of CBC among numerous other things. Anytime that you have a prayer need please call the church office at 940-665-4082 or 668-8893 and let us have the privilege of praying for you.

Big News for Kids & Youth

Exciting things are in the plans for children Pre-K through 5th grade  and a Bible study time for young people 6th through 12th grade. Parents, please mark your calendars for 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5 the big kick-off.

Churchwide Lunch

Sunday, Sept. 9 there will be a church wide meal following the morning service. This will be a time of fellowship and of making plans and setting long range goals for the future of CBC.

  • Men's group Church to start new ministry

    Gainesville Westminster Presbyterian Church, deeply entrenched  as part of the  community since 1946, is stepping out in faith by reaching out through a new ministry beginning Jan. 27 entitled “Men’s Accountability Network” (MAN). The ministry is designed to provide encouragement and support to men who aspire to build stronger relationships with God and family.
