Callisburg Church of Christ
The Callisburg Church of Christ wants to invite you to come and join us for worship service. We have Sunday School classes for all ages starting at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday morning. Worship service at 10:30 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. on Sunday evenings. We also have a ladies Bible study class each Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. We are a small country congregation with a mission to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have several events coming up in the near future. On Wednesday, Jan. 25 the ladies of the congregation will be having a ladies fellowship, the theme of the fellowship is "Putting Starch in Your New Year" All ladies are invited to come and join in for an evening of dinner and great fellowship beginning at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. On Sunday, Jan. 29 we will have our monthly fellowship meal following our morning worship service. Come join us for worship and a great meal to follow. On Saturday Feb. 13 we will have our annual Valentines Dinner. Bring your significant other and join us for a great time.
This Sunday mornings sermon will be: "The Silence of God" and Sunday evenings sermon will be: "Lessons from Jericho" We would love to have you come and pay us a visit.
Faith Lutheran Church
Faith Lutheran Church invites everyone to join our worship service on Sunday morning. . The blended worship service will begin at 10:15 a.m. The sermon will be based on the Gospel of Mark 1:14-20. Sunday School for children and youth and Bible Study for the adults will begin at 9 a.m. The adult Bible class will be led by John Morris, who will continue a study of Revelation. For those who wish to arrive at 8:45 a.m., coffee and fellowship will be shared. A nursery will be provided.

Bible study
On Monday, Jan. 23, Sally Haynie will host a Bible study in her home at 1821 Arkansas at noon. The group will continue an intriguing study, “ Discover Your Own Gifts of the Spirit, Fruit of the Spirit, and Natural Talents.” For further details call Sally Haynie at 580-3116.
Ladies Bible study
On Wednesday, Jan, 25, the Ladies Bible Study group will meet at 9:30 a.m.. to continue a study of the book of Acts.

Family Life Church

Our holy but relaxed services are at 10:30 a.m. Sundays with anointed musical worship led by Wayne Fitzpatrick. Pastor leads Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, plus other meetings for Bible study Monday evenings, young adults on Sunday evenings, monthly meetings for Winning Widows and women’s ministry.

Salems to perform Sunday, Jan. 22
Harry and Cheryl Salem will make their annual visit to Gainesville’s Family Life Church for the 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 22 service.
“The family ministers restoration because they have been restored themselves,” church spokesperson G’Anna Smith said. “They have a call on their lives to bring people into God’s Kingdom.”
Harry Salem is a gifted preacher and Cheryl, a former Miss America, ministers beautifully in song and has produced several CDs including “Lord, You’re Holy” and “Deep Cries to Deep.”
First Baptist Church
Kids Blitz Live is coming to FBC
Kidz Blitz Live will be happening here at First Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 3. Kidz Blitz Live is a game show style event that we are so excited to be hosting. This family friendly event will definitely be something you do not want to miss. Bring your friends and neighbors to this free event. Kidz Blitz Live, an evening of fun you will not want to miss.
Disciple Now
Disciple Now will an event held in Gainesville and the students grades six through 12 will be housed in host homes provided by FBC members. This event costs $55, which covers the cost of the event registration, the event T-shirt, the book, meals and recreation. The deadline to register your youth is Jan. 11. After that the registration cost increases to $70. Register now with just a $25 deposit and pay the rest by Jan. 25. This is a great time for youth.
Youth spaghetti fundraiser for camp
First Baptist Church students will be selling tickets for a Spaghetti Luncheon to be held this Sunday, January 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church's Activities Building. For tickets contact a FBC youth or the church office.
First Christian Church
First Christian Church is located at 401 N. Dixon in Gainesville. Sunday School for all ages starts at 9 a.m., with worship at 10 a.m. where we celebrate the Lord’s Supper with an open communion table each Sunday. Sunday’s message by Rev. Mark Loewen is titled, “A Faith Worth Finding.” The Scripture reading is Mark 1:14-20.
Winter Bible Study
Our Winter study this year uses Rick Warren’s book, “The Purpose Driven Life.” It meets on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. This study will help you understand why you are alive and God’s amazing plan for you.

First United Methodist Church
First United Methodist Church welcomes you to worship with us Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. We are located at 214 S. Denton Street. Childcare is available for ages 5 and under.
Our 8:30 a.m. worship is a little more relaxed but always includes beautiful music. The 10:45 a.m. service is traditional and features hymns, organ, piano, and choir and also often includes music from our handbells, children’s and youth choirs. Children are welcome in worship and we include a Children’s Sermon at each service. We offer Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month.
Sunday’s message
Join us this Sunday, Jan. 22, for worship at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. Rev. Don Yeager’s sermon for this Sunday is titled “The Reluctant Prophet,” from the text of Jonah 3:1-5, 10. The message reveals that God can use us in spite of ourselves.
District leadership training
Our church will host the 2012 District Leadership Training for the Northwest District on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Rev. Aleze Fulbright and Kelly Carpenter will be the plenary speakers, sharing insights from their work with the Center for Leadership Development for the North Texas Conference of the UMC.

On Sundays all youth meet for Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. Youth hours are as follows. The junior high youth will meet from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and on Sunday’s youth hours have the junior high youth meeting at 5 p.m. with an all youth snack supper from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. followed by the senior high youth meeting until 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 21, the youth girls will have a craft day with Shawna while the boys will go bowling with Josh. Choice Stephens and Al Latham took up the offering as Suzanne Carpenter played In His Time on the grand piano. Dean Armstrong sang “It Is No Secret What God Can Do” accompanied by Suzanne Carpenter. Bro. Bill Black's sermon was from Mark 9:42-50. Hell is a real place and it has no end.

New Life Bible Church
“What is Your Calling?”
This is the question Pastor Andy Anderson posed as he spoke last Sunday from Ephesians 4:1-11. “Life is an opportunity to serve God, by serving each other. One person, with one seemingly small act, can touch so many people – one act of honoring God. What can you do?”
Weekly Men’s Coffee
Previously held monthly, the men of NLBC are now meeting weekly at the church for coffee, fellowship, and a time of study and prayer. Please note the change in time. It is held from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. Please come, and feel free to bring a friend to this growing fellowship.
Several men from New Life and from other churches in the community also meet from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. for a bible study at Gainesville Title Company downtown. Please see Robert Gleaton, or call the church, to find out more about this study.
Women’s Ministry
The women of NLBC meet every two months for a fellowship breakfast. Tomorrow, Jan. 21, at 8:30 a.m. the group will meet and, along with the fellowship, will discuss upcoming plans, including meal prep day (where we cook cooperatively to fill the freezer with meals to share with those in need). Many of the women meet every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. for a book study led by Terri Pulec. Currently the women are discussing “Practicing God’s Presence – Brother Lawrence for Today’s Reader” by Robert Elmer. Women throughout the community are invited to join this study, which not only allows for a time of open discussion of the book and how it relates to our lives, but it also helps the women to connect to each other.
Adult Bible Fellowship
Geoff Haberman is leading a Sunday morning bible study each Sunday at 9:30 in room 204. This is an interactive bible study which helps all those attending to increase their understanding of God’s Word. The fellowship is currently studying the book of Deuteronomy.
High School Youth
Youth leaders James and Alison Lewis meet with the high school youth in the outer building every Sunday morning at 9:30, for an invigorating bible study, currently studying Philippians. The high school also meets on Wednesday evenings at the Lewis’ home, learning how to study their bibles.
Junior High Youth
The junior high youth meet on Sunday morning as well, and are currently learning the foundational principles of the Old Testament, relating that knowledge with the New Testament, and growing their relationship with the Lord. Wednesday evenings the junior high youth participates in the AWANA program.
Planet Wisdom
The high school and junior high youth are planning their trip to Planet Wisdom, Feb. 10 – 11. The focus this year is on studying your bible. This is an overnight trip, and will be well chaperoned. Tickets have been purchased, and additional tickets can be purchased if one of the youth plans to bring a friend, but you must notify Alison Lewis of your commitment to go no later than this Sunday, Jan. 22. The youth are involved in a fundraiser to cover the cost of the hotel.
New Life Bible youth will be participating in the Will Graham Red River Celebration. Three Wednesdays in February will find youth from churches across Gainesville and Cooke County, including NLBC youth, at the Gainesville Middle School
New Life Family Prayer
Each Sunday morning those wishing to join in corporate prayer are invited to come together in one of the front hall Sunday school rooms from 9 to 9:30. This is an opportunity to lift our church and our leadership up in prayer, as well as others who come to mind. Sunday school for all ages, toddlers through adults, begins immediately after the prayer time. A nursery is offered throughout Sunday morning, and during the church service. Children’s Church is also offered for the children toddler-aged through pre-school.
Praise and Worship
Steven Dulock and the praise team use their God-given talent to lead the congregation in contemporary praise and worship every Sunday morning before the church receives the Word of God. Everyone is invited to experience this time of praise, lifting your voice to our Creator.
AWANA
The AWANA program is on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., and includes children who turned three by September 1st of 2011, as well as Junior High students.
Pot Luck Sunday
Please join us for a pot luck dinner and fellowship every first Sunday of the month, immediately following the service. There is always plenty of food, and of course fellowship, for everyone. We want you to feel welcome to join us.
State School Ministry
Every 4th Sunday of the month members of New Life Bible meet after church to minister to the young men at the Gainesville State School. If you feel called to participate in this ministry, please see Robert Gleaton at the church.

Our church had visitors from Olney last week. The guests attended church service and lunch afterward. Wanda Almon played the piano for the congregation. Chuckie Alexander sang “His Name is Wonderful.” Claudia Allen read the story of how the song was written.

Coming in February
The Whaley UMC Fellowship Committee will host a Church-wide Valentine Luncheon on Sunday, Feb. 12. The luncheon will feature a special musical presentation and a kid station where heart-shaped sandwiches and Valentine cookie decorating will be offered. The Lenten season will begin Wednesday, Feb. 22 with an Ash Wednesday worship service at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. The Whaley United Methodist Women will host a Call to Prayer and Self-Denial Luncheon Thursday, Feb. 23.
