Please join us for both of these events and enjoy the blessings. We wished Zeddie Shuppert a happy birthday Feb. 13 and Bobbye Stephens a happy birthday Feb. 14. Our choir sang a grand old Fanny J. Crosby favorite Blessed Assurance accompanied by Suzanne Carpenter at the grand piano. Cameron Stogner gave the opening prayer.

Rick Collett and Choice Stephens took up the offering.

Jon Carpenter's sermon about how ordinary people become extraordinary Christians used the testimony of a new Christian, Tina Watson, and a mature Christian, Mary Friddell. For both, daily Bible reading and prayer is important. We can't save ourselves; salvation comes by grace through faith. Bro. Carpenter also used the 14th chapter of John to show that a personal relationship with the Trinity enables us to be still and know God. Let your light shine in spite of opposition. Our Associate Minister, Keven Sandmann, gave the benediction.

Mt. Pleasant Baptist

On Feb. 12, Pastor Chuck Williams led the congregation on a journey through the Bible, searching for the meaning of “truth” in God’s Word. In Genesis and Exodus we learn that truth is God's very nature. Therefore, Christians and their churches must be grounded in truth to be effective. There is a pattern of explanation from the Old Testament through the New which will help one discover the importance of truth in our relationships with others. In today's world, it is common to hear the following: “Well. That may be true for you, but it isn't true for me.” Not so, there is such a thing as absolute truth — God's truth.
