Callisburg Church of Christ
The Callisburg Church of Christ will be having their annual Valentines Dinner at the church fellowship hall this Saturday night the 11th at 7 p.m. Bring your loved one out and join us for a great evening of Italian food, fun, and romance. The men of the church will be getting together that last Saturday of this month for a "Pizza and Movie" night. Guys come out and join us for a movie and some good eats. We are in the planning stages for several things over the next few months, stay tuned and we will let you know about them!

Christian Science Society
On Sunday, Feb. 12, the subject for our weekly lesson will be “Ancient and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism” which will include quotations from the Bible and correlative passages from “Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy, our founder, which explains the readings from the Bible from a spiritual perspective.
Our service is held at 115 E. Hird St., at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is cordially invited. Our reading room is always open to all before services.
Faith Lutheran Church
Faith Lutheran Church invites everyone to join our worship service on Sunday morning. The traditional worship service will begin at 10:15 a.m. The sermon will be based on the Gospel of Mark 1: 40-45. Sunday School for children and youth and Bible Study for the adults will begin at 9 a.m. The Adult Bible Class will be led by John Morris, who will continue a study series of Biblical history this week. For those who wish to arrive at 8:45 a.m., coffee and fellowship will be shared. A nursery will be provided.

Celebrations
In Faith’s church family, Elizabeth Kessner, Dannielle Howeth and Chris Quakenbush celebrate their birthdays this week. Ron and Carol Tuggle and Barry and Deadre Wolzen will celebrate wedding anniversaries. We ask special blessings on all of them.
ACT to visit Cedar Mills
On Saturday, Feb. 11, the ACT group will travel to Cedar Mills Marina, Lake Texoma to have a special Valentine’s dinner at Pelican’s Landing. The group will enjoy dining and fellowship overlooking the lake.
Sally Haynie’s Bible study
On Monday, Feb. 13, Sally Haynie will host a Bible study in her home at 1821 Arkansas at noon. The group will continue an intriguing study, “ Discover Your Own Gifts of the Spirit, Fruit of the Spirit, and Natural Talents.” For further details call Sally Haynie at 580-3116.
Ladies Bible Study
On Wednesday, Feb. 15, the Ladies Bible Study group will meet at 9:30 a.m. to continue a study of the book of Acts. The choir will meet at 5:30 p.m.
Helping Hands of Faith
Helping Hands of Faith, a mission of Faith Lutheran Church, is located at 719 Smith St. in the old Frankie Schmitz Shoe Factory building. Run by volunteers, this thrift store uses its profits for donations to the church and community. Funds are donated to organizations such as Stanford House, ABBA Women’s Center, Cooke County Home Hospice, CASA, CPS, Camp Sweeney, VISTO, and several area Volunteer Fire Departments. Regular store hours are 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. If you have items to donate, bring them to the store on regular store days. If you have large items that need to be picked up, call 668-4393.

First United Methodist Church
First United Methodist Church welcomes you to worship with us Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. We are located at 214 S. Denton Street. Childcare is available for ages 5 and under.
Our 8:30 a.m. worship is a little more relaxed but always includes beautiful music. The 10:45 service is traditional and features hymns, organ, piano, and choir and also often includes music from our handbells, children’s and youth choirs. Children are welcome in worship and we include a Children’s Sermon at each service. We offer Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month.

Parent’s Night Out
Our Family Ministries program will host Parent’s Night Out on Friday, Feb. 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This event is open to children ages infant through 5th grade. First UMC parents are encouraged to enjoy an evening out while your children enjoy a fun-filled time at the church. The Ultimate Obstacle Course is back, along with pizza, popcorn, and a movie. Cost is $10 for the first child in a family and $5 for each additional child. Registration is required.
Christian Life & Witness Course
First UMC will be hosting the Christian Life & Witness Course for the Red River Will Graham Celebration. The course is offered on Saturday, February 11, 18, and 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon in the Fellowship Center. The course is open to all adults and youth older than 14. If you are interested in being a counselor for the Celebration, this course is a must.
Gwen’s Group
Our senior adult travel group, “Gwen’s Group,” will start again on Thursday, Feb. 16, with a trip to the Texas Civil War Museum and Judy Richey’s Victorian Dresses West Ft. Worth. Lunch will be at the Rose Garden Tea Room located at the Mercantile Antique Mall. Tickets for the museum are $6 each plus lunch. The church van will leave the church at 8:30 a.m. sharp. This group was led by the late Gwen Grove for many years.
Shrove Tuesday celebration
Save the date... Shrove Tuesday Celebration, Feb. 21, starting at 6 p.m. starting with a Children’s Parade of bikes, trikes, skates, skateboards or just dressed for fun on Denton Street. The NCTC Jazz Band will add to the festivities of the parade, authentic Creole Cuisine and Children’s Activities, including face painting.
Ash Wednesday worship
Ash Wednesday worship, including Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion, will be on Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.
Missions Corner
Our Missions Corner bins continue to fill up weekly. Lists are now available for Military, Rainbow Room, and VISTO needs. Please pick up a list from the mission corner if you would like to help those in need.
Second Time Around
Second Time Around is a re-sale ministry that carries a wide variety of gently used clothing, books, household items, and furniture and has been serving the community and those in need since the 1970’s. Eula West was responsible for starting what was a small mission service and it has grown to serve more than just Cooke County. Profit from Second Time Around sales is given to mission projects of the church which include global-wide missions. Many needy persons are also helped free of charge. The store is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Second Time Around is located at 105 S. Denton Street and welcomes donations and shoppers.
Sunday school schedule
On Sundays all youth meet for Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. Youth hours are as follows. The Jr. High youth will meet from 4:00-5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and on Sunday’s youth hours have the Jr. High youth meeting at 5:00 p.m. with an all youth snack supper from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. followed by the Sr. High youth meeting until 7:30 p.m.
Recycling effort comes to an end
We have had an overwhelming response to our recycling program of newspapers, boxes and cans. Shawna and the youth will be stopping the recycling program at this time. Thanks to all who have participated.

Sunday review
Kevin Sandmann, our Associate Pastor, opened the Morning Worship with prayer. Choice Stephens and Gary Boaz took up the offering. At the little red wagon going round to collect the change were Harley Harendt, C J. Oldaker and Emma Green.
Benny Strong, Rick Collett and Dean Armstrong with Suzanne Carpenter at the grand piano sang Somewhere. A beautiful and moving song with lots of applause afterwards.
Bro. Bill Black's sermon was from Acts 14:8-20. Worshiping some sort of an idol tries to fill up the empty spot in our makeup. Paul and Barnabus went to Lystra with the message of Jesus. They also healed a man crippled from birth. The people of Lystra wanted to worship them, calling them gods. Paul explained they were not gods, just messengers of the one true God. Then other Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and swayed the crowd so that they turned against Paul and stoned him, leaving him for dead. Popularity is fickle; you can be gods one day and goats the next. Put the message of salvation uppermost.

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church
On Feb. 5, 2012, Pastor Chuck Williams directed the attention of the congregation to the New Testament churches. These churches were characterized as being holy, obedient, and making themselves ready. Today, a church like this is hard to find. In many of today's churches a few people do most of the work. To make Mt. Pleasant more like the early churches, the members must first be assured of their faith by examining its foundation. The Bible tells us of God's plan for our salvation through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. We must believe in these holy events and ask Jesus into our hearts. Paul gives many assurances in Romans 8:1 and Romans 8:38-39 that a true believer cannot lose salvation and will be known as a Christian by his behavior to others.
There will be a business meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the Fellowship Hall.
On Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. the fellowship hall will be decorated for a Valentines Day Party. Tortilla soup will be served and desserts will be provided by the men.

Prairie Grove Baptist Church
Our message Sunday was from Ecclesiastes 5. “Keep your vows.” Keep your word with God. God’s ways never end up disappointing us. Chuckie Alexander led the congregation in some hymns from the songbook.
The fifth Sunday services were for singing. Don Allen, son of the pastor, came from Conroe with his daughter, Emily, to bring special music. The grandchildren and in-laws of the pasor came to be in the service. Claudia Allen read two reading, one was serious and the other humorous. Chuckie Alexander and Don Allen sang, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder.”
Dee Fisk and Larry Clark sang, “When We All Get to Heaven.” Then Larry sang “Midnight Cry” and “Standing on Holy Ground.”
Chuckie, Don, Jim Allen, Larry and Dee sang “I’ll Fly Away.” Wanda Almon played the piano for all who sang specials. After the service, lunch was served.
A special thanks goes to Paula Gibson for her help with the mission projects. An upcoming mission is planned.

St. Mary’s now has a small chapel that will be used for daily Mass and/or Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The chapel is located in the Pastoral Center. For daily Mass, you may enter either in the front door of the office or the back door of the chapel. Monday and Friday the daily Mass will be held in the Chapel at 8:15am. The Wednesday Mass at 5:30pm & Thursday, 8:15am (St. Mary’s School Mass, when school is in session) will be held in the church. First Friday Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will also be held in the Chapel each month. The Chapel will be open during normal working hours and you are welcome to come and spend some time with Jesus!
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is available at St. Mary’s. Each parishioner is invited to spend one hour of prayer before The Blessed Sacrament first Wednesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and First Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Adoration is a beautiful, quiet time to spend with Jesus in prayer or meditation.
Altar Society
The Altar Society is a ministry of women of the parish, who pray for each other and all of the parish family, maintain the Altar linens, candles, flowers and decorations used for the praise and glory of God our Father at the celebration of the Mass. Members of the Altar Society pray the rosary each Saturday before the 4 p.m. Mass, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Knights of Columbus
The mission of the Knights of Columbus, council 1167 is to help Catholic men remain steadfast in their faith through mutual encouragement, to promote closer ties of fraternity among them, and to set up an elementary system of insurance so that the widows and children of members in the group who might die would not find themselves in dire financial straits. Membership is open to practical Catholic men 18 and older. Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Grand Knight is Danny Wolf (940)736-3137.
Baptism classes
Baptism classes will now be offered on a quarterly basis rather than monthly. You do not have to wait until after your child is born to attend the class. This could be something that you can take care of before the special delivery. Parents and Godparents are asked to attend the classes. Reminder — the chosen Godparents must have received all their sacraments, including Confirmation and if they are married, they must be married in the Catholic Church. These are important questions to ask our friend and/or family member before asking them to be your child’s baptismal sponsor! Baptisms will continue to take place on the 3rd Sunday of the month (there are a few exception months: Lent/Easter/Christmas) although they will now be included during a Sunday Mass.
Youth ministry
St Mary’s Youth Ministry programs lead teens closer to Christ through the celebration of the Eucharist, though the teachings of Christ and His Church, and through an experience of being loved and accepted. Our programs teach our teens to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. The High School Religious Education Classes meet on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
RCIA
Religious Education (RCIA –Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is currently in the Inquiry Session of the meetings and they gather after the 11am Mass on Sundays until approximately 1pm. Give Scott a call at the parish office to register. The group meets weekly thru April.
SSR
Religious Education (SSR) – Sunday School of Religion is held each Sunday during the normal school year. Classes are held on Sunday mornings from 9:45am-10:50am for children 4 years old through 8th grade.

Whaley United Methodist Church
Evolution Sunday is the creation of Professor Michael Zimmerman to talk about the relationship between science and religion. This Sunday, Whaley UMC will honor Evolution Sunday with a look at the creation narratives in Genesis 1 and 2. We invite you to join us as we explore an important and controversial topic.

Whaley UMC will begin the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday worship service Wednesday evening, Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
The Whaley United Methodist Women will host a Call to Prayer and Self-Denial Luncheon Thursday, Feb. 23 at 11:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. A scant meal of rice, beans, and cornbread will be served followed by a program on missions.
Whaley UMC is honored to serve the first light lunch in the Gainesville Ministerial Alliance Lenten Luncheon series Wednesday, Feb. 29 at St. Paul Episcopal Church. Whaley pastor, Rev. Dr. Chuck Aaron will offer the Lenten devotional as well.

Vilott Baptist Church News
This week at Vilott Baptist Church promises to be a wonderful one for all of us. There are millions of people in the world who do not have the opportunity to attend services in a church full of love and the Holy Spirit. We can openly come to pray, sing praises, and read and listen to the Word of God without fear of prison, persecution, or death. Why wouldn’t everyone want to take full advantage of that blessing every time it is available?
We begin Sunday mornings with a fellowship breakfast at 9:30 a.m. followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m. The worship service begins at 11 a.m. and the Sunday evening service is at 6 p.m.
On Wednesday evenings we get together for a family meal at 6 p.m. The children at Vilott are some of our most precious treasures; so we have dedicated folks teaching them in TeamKid about loving and praising the Lord and about missions at home and around the world. Every child is welcome to join in at 7 p.m. A small group meets at the same time each Wednesday for Bible study, and we have a group of prayer warriors who come together, too.
A group of our children just came back from a wonderful and inspiring weekend at Camp Copass. Our youth group is getting ready for a mission trip to Riverbend in March. We have a great group of kids and young people at Vilott. The whole church supports and prays for their activities as these precious children grow in the Lord.
On Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. you have the opportunity to join another small group for Bible study followed by a fellowship lunch afterwards.
Our pastor Rick Isham is available to for counseling and prayer any time you need him. We have people throughout the church who are called to be prayer warriors. You can always be a partner in prayer. God loves you, and so do we. Come join us.
