The Gainesville Lady Leopards improved to 3-6 on the season after defeating Wolfe City Friday by the scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-22.

The Lady Leopards had a big lead in the first game, but allowed Wolfe City to rally for the win.

But Ganesville held strong the rest of the way, winning the final three games.

In Game 2, Marisol Chavez served seven consecutive points to help in the win.

In Game 3, Megan Carroll served 10 straight points thanks to six aces as part of a 13-2 lead and eventual win.

In the fourth and deciding game, Carroll came up big again at the serve, scoring seven points for her team along with two aces.

For Gainesville, Carroll finished with 10 aces, three kills and three blocks while Paola Vazquez added seven kills, seven digs, four aces and two blocks.

Baylee Mims scored a team-high 14 kills to go along with nine digs, four aces and a block.

Chavez finished with 20 assists, five digs, four aces, one block and one kill. Taylor Murphy had eight digs, Zhanice Lane had two digs and a kill, Skye Ferch scored five kills, 10 digs, two aces and a block and Shelly Reynolds recorded four digs and two kills.

The varsity Lady Leopards also competed in pool play Thursday at the Argyle Varsity Tournament, losing all three matches to Joshua, Callisburg and Princeton.

Gainesville wrapped up the Argyle tournament on Saturday.

As for the junior varsity white and red teams, they too played Wolfe City Friday.

While the white won its match, the red fell in straight sets by the scores of 25-18, 25-16.

Next action for the Lady Leopards is a road game Tuesday at Howe starting at 5 p.m. with the freshmen.
