Sacred Heart golf teams qualify for State

ALLEN — Both The Sacred Heart Catholic School boys and girls golf teams qualified for the TAPPS State Golf Tournament by finishing in the top four at the Class 2A North Regional Tournament Monday at Twin Creeks Golf Course in Allen.

The teams had to battle cold, windy conditions, but the Tigerettes finished second and the Tigers placed fourth.

In the girls tournament, Dallas Cambridge was first with a tema score of 432, Sacred Heart was second with a 452, Amarillo Holy Cross was third with a 460 and Henderson Full Armor was fourth with a 463.

For the Tigerettes, Raynee Hogan shot a 103 to place fifth overall. Sarah Ratliff had a 115, Alexandra Popovich fired a 116, Shelbye Hess had a 118 and Shelbye Ratliff had a 122.

In the boys division, Longview Christian Heritage was first with a 368, McKinney Christian was second with a 381, Sherman Texoma Christian was third with a 381 and Sacred Heart was fourth with a 390.

For the Tigers, Kevin Kulle fired a 91 to place fifth, John Krawietz had a 95 to place ninth, Ben Walterscheid shot a 97, Nick Popovich had a 102, Austin Springer had a 103 and Kirk Felderhoff had a 107.

The State tournament will be held April 20-21 at April Sounds Golf Course in Conroe.
