Felderhoff wins 10-2A cross country race

Several area Class 2A cross country runners will be moving on to the regional meet after their performances at the District 10-2A meet held Monday.

Valley View sophomore Taylor Felderhoff won the varsity girls race to help lead the Lady Eagles to a second-place team finish. Felderhoff finished first with a time of 13:33.84.

Krum won the varsity girls team championship with 45 points, while Valley View was second with 51. That second-place finish means the Lady Eagle team will all advance to regionals. Pilot Point was third with 71, while Callisburg finished sixth with 154.

Callisburg senior Morgan Reed finished third with a time of 14:14.03, qualifying her for the regional meet was well.

Valley View had several other outstanding performancesto help the team to the second-place finish. Carley Calhoun placed seventh (14:30.90), Lauren Holt was 12th (14:48.52), Katy Alexander was 13th (14:52.49), Ashley Price was 18th (15:06.49), Kayla Johnson was 27th (15:51.52) and Rebekah Davidson was 31st (16:21.19).

Also for Callisburg, Taylor Curtright was 33rd (16:32.42), Kathy Day was 34th (16:37.91), Sara Richardson was 38th (17:14.34), Keremy Germany was 46th (18:40.14), Haley Henderson was 49th (18:53.59) and Delynn Westbrook was 50th (19:12.68).

In the varsity boys race, one Valley View runner qualified for regionals. Casey Calhoun finished 10th with a time of 20:29.67 to move on.

Pilot Point finished first in the varsity boys team standings with 48 points, while Krum was second and Ponder was third, both with 57 points. Neither Valley View nor Callisburg had enough runners to qualify for the team competition.

For the Eagles, Simon Walters was 16th (20:41.70). For Callisburg, Taylor Dishman was 37th (23:19.51) and James Bryant was 41st (24:35.66).
