Tuesday HS Girls Basketball Roundup

Staff report

MUENSTER — Even with two of their three top scorers fouling out, the Muenster Lady Hornets were able to hold on for a 66-55 win over Class 3A Bridgeport Tuesday at the MISD gym.

Muenster is now 3-0 for the season.

The Lady Hornets raced out to a 23-12 lead after the first quarter, but early foul trouble made post Taylor Klement and guard Demi Koelzer spend most of the second quarter on the bench. Even without those two, Muenster led 44-30 at halftime.

Koelzer led Muenster with 19 points, while Shaina Felderhoff added 18, Klement had 12, Lana Heers scored 7, Allison Pagel and Leaha Smith both had 4, and Lia Heers added 2.

In the junior varsity game, nine different players scored as Muenster downed Bridgeport 41-27.

Emily Hellman led the way with 9 points, Shelby Dangelmayr and Paige Hennigan both added 8, Michelle Sicking scored 5, Andi Felderhoff and Lauren Rohmer both had 3, Chloe Schneider and Payton Sanders each added 2 and Paige Herr scored 1.

The Tigerettes will travel to Fort Worth this weekend to compete in the Bethesda Christian tournament. Sacred Heart opens up with TAPPS 3A Waco Vanguard.

“This will be a good test for our youngsters as three days of hoops really tests your bench.”
