FORT WORTH — The Gainesville Lady Leopards went back on the road Tuesday and fell to Fort Worth South Hills 38-24.

South Hills (1-2) led 11-7 after the first quarter and had a 24-14 lead at halftime. Gainesville (0-3) were held to just 10 points in the second half including only four in the third period.

Amy Franklin led Gainesville with 13 points, while Alex Cooney added 5, Megan Gonzales and Jalisa Moore each had 3 and Rachael Mack scored 1.

The Lady Leopard junior varsity defeated South Hills 34-21.

Charisma Tell led the way with 9 points for Gainesville, while Katie Heffron added 8, Rubi Saenz scored 7, Alex Perez had 6 and Desiree Johnson had 2.

Callisburg 44

Paradise 38

CALLISBURG — The Callisburg Lady Cats started their season Tuesday with a 44-38 win over the Paradise Lady Panthers at the new CHS gym.

The game was tied 9-9 after the first period, but the Lady Cats scored 14 points in the second quarter to take a 23-19 lead at halftime. Callisburg pushed their lead to 12 after three periods, but Paradise rallied in the fourth but still lost by six.

Lauren Romines led Callisburg with 11 points, while Miranda Byrom added 10, Payton Bentley scored 9, Tara Wescoat had 5, Britni Shaffer had 4, Morgan Reed added 3 and Sara Richardson scored 2.

Callisburg’s next game with Celeste has been moved to Saturday. The junior varsity will start at 1 p.m., with the varsity to follow. The games will be played in Callisburg.

THESA 53

Muenster 38

MUENSTER — The No. 9 ranked Muenster Lady Hornets fell to 0-2 with a 53-38 loss to a tough THESA team that has already defeated Class 5A South Grand Prairie and Class 4A Waxahachie.

Muenster fell behind in the first half but was able to tie the score in the third period, but THESA has one of the top freshman players in the state and she proved to be too much for the Lady Hornets to handle.

“She is very good,” Muenster coach Jason Atcheson said. “They are a very good basketball team. Overall we did some really good things.”

Taylor Klement led Muenster with 9 points and 8 rebounds, while Sam Endres had 7 points and 6 rebounds, Shaina Felderhoff had 6 points and 8 rebounds, Lana Heers had 4 points and 6 rebounds, Jenni Luke and Lia Heers each scored 3, Leaha Smith had 3 points and 5 rebounds, Allison Pagel scored 2 and Delana Sicking added 1.

Ponder 90

Lindsay 32

PONDER — The Lindsay Lady Knights ran into a buzzsaw Tuesday in Ponder as the Lady Lions beat the Knights 90-32.

Lindsay (1-1), who has only been practicing for a week because of the volleyball playoffs, was held to just four points in the first quarter and trailed 25-4 after the first eight minutes. Ponder (2-1) had a 49-14 lead at halftime as the Lady Lions shot 57 percent from the field and 88 percent from the free throw line.

Beverly Knabe led Lindsay with 7 points, Kristin Martin and Cammi Neu each added 6, Katie Dieter scored 4, Rose Hermes had 3, and Elizabeth Martin, Kaylee Murphree and Bethani Eberhart each added 2.

Ponder won the junior varsity game 52-23. Lindsay was led by Megan Caillier who had 11 points, Taylor Atkins added 6, Allison Metzler had 4, and Mandy Hess and Lucinda Krahl each added 1.
