Era girls fall to Alvord

ALVORD — The Era Lady Hornets fell to 0-2 Tuesday with a 63-37 loss to Alvord in a non-district basketball game.

Era only trailed 15-12 after the first quarter and was down 28-24 at halftime, but Alvord outscored them 35-13 in the second half.

For Era, Cheree Kiser had 13 points, Shae Knabe added 7, Leah Doughty scored 5, Julia Rust and Cortney Seay both had 3, and Jacy Steelman, Dana Schumacher and Casey Hudson each added 2.

“We had a lot of little mistakes in the first half but played well as a team,” Era coach Jackie Shaffer said. “Alvord was very physical and we hung in there the first half. We just couldn’t match their physicalness in the second half.”
