SAINT JO — The Valley View Lady Eagles opened up play in the Saint Jo Tournament Thursday with an exciting 47-39 overtime victory over the Savoy Lady Cardinals.

Savoy scored seven points in the last minute of regulation to force overtime, but Valley View (3-1) outscored the Cardinals 8-0 in the extra period to get the win.

Taylor Dowd led the Lady Eagles with 13 points, while Ariel Hernandez added 12 and Courtney Pierce scored 11. Also for Valley View, Kinzie Pierce had 6, Lauren Holt had 5 and Jamie Rauschuber added 2.

Valley View faced either Saint Jo or Alvord in the second round this morning. The winner of that game was scheduled to play again in the semifinals at 1:30 p.m.

Collinsville 42

Bellevue 29

SAINT JO — The Collinsville Lady Pirates outscored Bellevue 12-3 in the opening quarter and never looked back as they raced to a 42-29 win in the first round of the Saint Jo Tournament Thursday.

The Lady Pirates had a 26-12 halftime lead and increased their lead to 18 in the third period as they held Bellevue to just four points.

Samantha Blakeley led the way for Collinsville with 10 points, while Kaila Delka added 8, Taylor Daley and Candace Marlin each had 7, Brooke Swindle scored 4, and Danielle Fuller, Maddie Voth and Karli Koerner each scored 2.

Collinsville played Paradise this morning in the second round. The winner of that game was scheduled to play Muenster in the semifinals at noon today.

Sacred Heart 55

Pantego 25

FORT WORTH — The Sacred Heart Tigerettes played great defense and came away with a 55-25 win over Pantego Thursday in the first round of the Fort Worth Bethesda Tournament.

The Tigerettes (5-0) held Pantego to six points in the first quarter, seven in the second period and six in both the third and fourth quarters. Sacred Heart already had a 34-13 lead at halftime.

Kristin LeBrasseur led Sacred Heart with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals, while Samantha Wimmer added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Also for Sacred Heart, Raynee Hogan added 8 points, Taylor Reiter had 6, Karli Anderle scored 5, Rebecka Hesse had 4, Kalyssa Pollard added 3 points and 6 rebounds and Lisa Miller scored 1.

The Tigerettes continued play in the tournament today at 3 p.m., against Fort Worth Calvary.
