IOWA PARK — The Gainesville Leopards will go into the holiday break in a cheery mood after defeating the Iowa Park Hawks 50-35 Monday night in Iowa Park.

The Leopards (10-4) jumped on the Hawks early, taking a 12-3 lead after the first quarter. Both teams heated up in the second period as each scored 16 points, sending Gainesville into halftime with a 28-19 lead. The Leopards put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 13-7 to take a 15-point lead.

Tanner Grissom led GHS with 14 points, Deshawn Franklin added 11, Tony Wiese had 10, Harold Wills scored 7, Jered Hall had 6 and Kenyon Morgan added 2.

Wiese pulled down 10 rebounds, while Jake Felderhoff and Wills each had 3. Franklin dished out 5 assists, while Grissom, Hall and Felderhoff each had 3.

The Leopards won’t be back in action until Dec. 29 when they start play in the Prosper Tournament.

The Gainesville junior varsity A team won it’s sixth game in a row Monday, defeating Iowa Park 48-29. The JV Leopards are now 8-1 on the season.

Prosper 63

Valley View 59

VALLEY VIEW — The Valley View Eagles dropped their first game of the season Monday night as Prosper came from behind for a 63-59 victory.

Valley View (15-1) led 33-23 at halftime and took a 44-39 into the fourth quarter, but Prosper outscored them 24-15 in the final period.

Justin Holt led Valley View with 27 points, Cameron Vesperman added 14, Scott Willis had 8, Josh Anding scored 6 and Mikael Vesperman added 4.

Pilot Point 63

Whitesboro 52

PILOT POINT — The Pilot Point Bearcats knocked off Whitesboro 63-52 in a battle of former district rivals Monday.

Pilot Point only led 21-20 at halftime, but outscored Whitesboro 21-10 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Travis Labhart had 24 points to lead Whitesboro, while Jonathon Rodriguez added 8, Matt Miller had 6, Zane Ferguson had 5, Kenny Powell scored 4, Cameron Clark had 3 and Brian Clark added 2.

Mike Pelzel had 22 points for Pilot Point.



Whitesboro 50

Pilot Point 48

PILOT POINT — The Whitesboro Lady Cats had three players score in double figures as they knocked off Pilot Point 50-48 in overtime Monday.

Pilot Point led 20-10 at halftime, but Whitesboro stormed back to tie things up 42-42 at the end of regulation. Whitesboro outscored Pilot Point 8-6 in overtime to get the win.

Paige Harris had 16 points, Jill Schuessler had 15 and Ragan Foos added 10 for Whitesboro. Also scoring for the Cats were Kara Kleinart with 6 and Jennifer Williams with 3.

Kaley Uptergrove had 22 points and Rachel Fritz added 10 for Pilot Point.
