CELINA — The Gainesville Leopards rebounded from a tough loss to Sanger last week to defeat Celina Tuesday night 63-40.

Powered by Kielyn Lewis, who scored a game-high 26 points while hauling in 12 rebounds, Gainesville now holds sole possession of the third-place spot in District 9-3A.

Gainesville (14-12, 3-3 district) took a 20-6 lead after the first quarter and led 34-16 at the half. In the second half, the Leopards outscored the Bobcats 29-24 for the win.

Junior post Harold Wills hauled in another double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds for Gainesville.

Also scoring for the Leopards was Kenyon Morgan who scored 13 points. David Moore scored 5 points with 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Caleb Covington finished with 4 points.

In the junior varsity game, Gainesville defeated Celina 50-36.

In the freshman game Tuesday, the Gainesville Leopards also won, defeating the Celina Bobcats by the score of 61-53.

Sacred Heart cruises to win

MUENSTER — The Sacred Heart Tigers defeated Watauga Harvest Tuesday night by the score of 62-38.

Sacred Heart (20-2, 7-0 district) led 23-13 after the first quarter and held a 49-23 lead at halftime. The Tigers outscored Watauga 31-24 in the second half.

The Tigers were led by Kevin Kulle and Kyle Knabe who each posted double-doubles. Kulle scored 24 points while hauling in 13 rebounds. Knabe scored 13 points with 12 rebounds.

Also scoring for the Tigers was John Krawietz who finished with 22 points. Patrick Mojica added 12 points and 9 assists, Garrett Berend scored 4, David Miller had 3 and Jae Kook Im finished with 2.



Wildcats keep third place

in district

CALLISBURG — The Callisburg Wildcats maintained their third-place spot in District 10-2A after defeating S&S; Tuesday by the score of 63-30.

Callisburg (18-7, 6-4 district) led 19-17 after the first quarter, but outscored the Rams 44-13 the rest of the way to take the win.

Langston Jones scored a team-high 16 points for Callisburg while Matt Adams added 12 in the win.

Also scoring for the Wildcats were Oscar Gutierrez who scored 8 points and Dallas Tate and Ben Fisk each added 7. Alex Averill and Logan Edelman each scored 4 points, Taylor Dishman chipped in 3 and Kevin Bartley scored 2.



Pottsboro beats Valley View

VALLEY VIEW — The Valley View Eagles were upended by the Pottsboro Cardinals Tuesday night by the score of 57-51.

Tanner Budra led the way for Pottsboro with 14 points.

Valley View stats were not submitted by press time.



Trenton gets past Pirates

TRENTON — The Collinsville Pirates fell just short of a win against Trenton Tuesday, falling 55-50.

Spencer McKnight scored a team-high 14 points for Collinsville. Tyler Ford added 12 points.
