SAINT JO — The No. 1 ranked Lindsay Lady Knights remained perfect in District 11-A play with a 25-17, 25-12, 25-8 win over the Saint Jo Lady Panthers Tuesday.

Lindsay is now 28-10 overall and 12-0 in district.

For the Lady Knights, Brenna Mlinar had 29 assists, 5 digs and 2 aces; Kaylee Murphree had 12 kills, 6 blocks, 6 digs and 7 aces; Kristin Martin had 11 kills, 10 digs and 3 blocks; Taylor Atkins had 7 kills and 5 digs; Allison Metzler had 4 kills and 2 aces; Jessica Thurman and Alyx Ethington each had 3 digs; and Jordan Fleitman added 2 digs.

On Friday, Lindsay will host Blue Ridge starting at 5 p.m., followed by the junior varsity and then the freshmen. The Lady Knights are encouraging all fans to wear pink as the “Pack the Place Pink for Lily.” All proceeds from Friday’s game will go to the family of Lily Dieter, a Lindsay first-grader who is battling leukemia.

In the junior varsity game Tuesday, Lindsay came away with a 25-10, 25-22 win over Saint Jo.

“The girls played well in the first game, but seemed to lose focus in the second game but still came away with the win,” Lindsay JV coach Robin Hess said.

The Lindsay freshman team lost to Fort Worth Castleberry 25-9, 13-25, 24-26 Tuesday.

Lindsay had a 22-18 lead in the third game but was not able to put Castleberry away.

“The girls played well in game one and lost focus in game two making several errors,” Lindsay freshman coach Don Neu said.



Callisburg defeats S&S;

SADLER — The Callisburg Lady Cats won a marathon first game that helped propel them to a straight-set win over the S&S; Consolidated Lady Rams Tuesday in District 10-2A play.

Callisburg won 31-29, 25-18, 25-17. The Lady Cats are now 18-15 overall and 3-3 in District 10-2A. They are tied for second place in District 10-2A with Pilot Point and Pottsboro. Aubrey has already clinched the district title. The top three teams make the playoffs.

For the Lady Cats, Tara Wescoat had 24 kills and 11 digs; Sara Richardson had 26 assists, 4 kills and 7 digs; Kenzie Rohrbough had 9 kills and 5 blocks; Taylor Coleman had 16 digs; and Kalli Byrom had 15 assists and 4 aces.

In the junior varsity match, Callisburg lost to S&S; 25-23, 24-26, 23-25. Callisburg’s freshmen defeated the Lady Rams 25-20, 25-21.

Callisburg will play at Pottsboro on Friday.



Whitesboro falls to Celina

WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro Lady Cats were officially eliminated from playoff contention Tuesday with a 25-17, 17-25, 27-25, 25-16 loss to the Celina Lady Cats.

Whitesboro is now 22-12 overall and 2-6 in District 9-3A.

For Whitesboro, Kortney Beebe had 16 kills, 4 digs and 1 block; Courtney Davis had 7 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks and 2 digs; Becca Winter had 7 kills, 1 ace and 10 digs; Jill Schuessler had 3 kills and 11 digs; Taylor Ezzell had 28 assists, 9 digs and 1 block; Jennifer Williams had 5 kills, 2 assists, 1 dig and 1 block; Krista Hitt had 11 digs; and Rachel Urban added 6 digs.

Whitesboro will travel to face No. 2 ranked Prosper Friday.
