COLLINSVILLE — The Collinsville Pirates blew the Era Hornets out of the water on senior night in Collinsville, winning 49-12 in a crucial District 13-A game.
In spite of a monster game by Era quarterback Trey Dunn who accounted for 386 yards of total offense with 245 yards rushing on 21 carries and 141 yards passing, Dunn couldn’t prevent the Hornet ship from sinking on Friday night.
While the Era offense moved the ball up and down the field, the Hornets were unable to find the end zone often enough to keep up with the Pirate offense which also moved the ball up and down the field while amassing 473 yards of total offense, but unlike the Hornets the Pirates were able to find the end zone on most of their opportunities en route to scoring points in each quarter of the game.
Collinsville led 7-0 after the first quarter, but increased their lead to 29-6 at halftime. The Pirates had a commanding 42-6 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Collinsville improved to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in District 13-A. Era is now 7-2 overall and 1-2 in district. The Pirates will travel to Lindsay Friday, while the Hornets host Muenster with playoff berths on the line in both games.
