ROUND ROCK — Kelsey Hermes placed fifth to lead the Lindsay Lady Knights to a seventh-place team finish at the Class A State cross country championships Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
Gruver won the team championship with 83 points, while Sunray was second with 86 and Seymour was third with 95. Lindsay was seventh with 148 and Era was 11th with 237.
Hermes, who was named to the Cross Country Coaches Association All-State team, was fifth with a time of 12:00. Also for Lindsay, Megan Caillier was 31st (13:00), Megan Holt was 53rd (13:30), Jordan Fleitman was 61st (13:39), Shirley Hess was 62nd (13:98), Bethani Eberhart was 66th (13:46) and Jessica Block was 80th (14:05).
“I am extremely proud of these young ladies,” Lindsay coach Robin Hess said. “They are a very good group of runners and I am already looking forward to next year.”
Muenster sophomore Emily Hellman placed 17th with a time of 12:40.
For Era, Dana Schumacher was 28th (12:59), Sadee Smith was 59th (13:36), Carlee Black was 70th (13:50), Brittany Wilson was 81st (14:07), Leah Doughty was 83rd (14:08), Jacy Steelman was 85th (14:14) and Cheree Kiser was 88th (14:24).
Saint Jo’s Kate Weger placed 43rd with a time of 13:18.
In the Class 2A meet, Valley View sophomore Taylor Felderhoff finished 12th with a time of 12:23, while Callisburg senior Morgan Reed was 34th with a time of 12:48.
In the Class 3A boys race, Gainesville sophomore Giovanni Carranza placed 40th with a time of 17:15.
