Despite narrowly missing the playoffs, Callisburg had numerous selections to this year’s 10-2A all-district team.
Leading the way for the Lady Cats were Tara Wescoat, named the district’s Offensive Most Valuable Player, and Kenzie Rohrbaugh, named Co-Newcomer of the Year along with Pilot Point’s Abby Watson.
Jac Bullock of Aubrey and Courtni Bauer of Pottsboro shared MVP honors in the district.
Aubrey’s Ana Cisneros was named Defensive MVP while Libero of the Year went to Emily Ray of Pilot Point and Setter of the Year was Katie Wilson of Pottsboro.
Callisburg’s lone first and second team selections were Taylor Coleman and Sara Richardson, respectively.
Fellow Lady Cat Kalli Byrom was among 11 girls selected as honorable mention while Morgan Reed and Payton Bently were among 24 girls named academic all-district selections.
The Lady Cats finished the 2009 season at 18-17 and 3-5 in district play.
Other first team selections to the 2009 District 10-2A All-District team were Kelsey Lynn and Jennifer Robbins of Aubrey, Leigh Vest and Rachel Fritz of Pilot Point, Jessica Girard of Pottsboro and Megan Matlock of S&S.;
Second team selections were Cadyrose Phillips and Jamie Teague of Aubrey, Kacey King of Pilot Point, Ashley Thomas of Pottsboro and Katie Parkes of S&S.;
Honorable mentions were Kell Gattuso and Shelby Carrigan of Aubrey, Meredith Larson and Cameryn Whetzel of Pilot Point, Ashlyn Choate, Megan Whitfield and Kalie Slate of Pottsboro and Haley Colwell, Rachel Curry and Rebecca Roberts of S&S;.

- Ponder pounds Lady Eagles The Valley View Lady Eagles had a rough outing in District 10-2A play Monday afternoon, falling to Ponder by the score of 18-2 in four innings.

- Lady Cats take home Lindsay Tourney title The Callisburg Lady Cats took home the Lindsay Tournament Championship Saturday night, and did so in extra innings, defeating Commerce 2-1.
- Knights one-hit Callisburg for win The Lindsay Knights one-hit the Callisburg Wildcats for a 5-0 win in Saturday’s conclusion of the Lindsay Tournament.
- Lady Leopards' win punches playoff ticket The Gainesville Lady Leopards scored a pair of goals in each half and cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Wichita Falls Hirschi Lady Huskies Friday, giving the soccer girls the distinction of being the first GHS sports team to qualify for the playoffs this year.
- Lady Leopards mercy rule Muenster In their final tune up game before district play starts Monday, the Gainesville Lady Leopards produced one of their best offensive outings of the season with a 17-2 wins over the Muenster Lady Hornets in four innings Friday at NCTC’s Darwin Fields.
