The 13-A All-District team recently was released after Lindsay’s loss to Albany Friday in the Class A Division II regional final.

The district’s most valuable player award went to Lindsay senior Ryan Haverkamp.

The Knights’ go-to guy at running back ran for 600 yards and 15 touchdowns in 9 games. Haverkamp also was a key player on defense and special teams, recording 85 tackles and 5 interceptions. He also averaged 40.6 yards per punt with 6 punts inside the 10-yard line.

Haverkamp was among many who helped lead Lindsay to its best record in school history at 12-2 before a 52-13 loss to Albany in Aledo on Dec. 4 ended their season.

Also receiving top honors for Lindsay was Ross Jones, the district’s special teams MVP.

In 2009, Jones was flawless at extra point attempts, going 33-of-33 and was 6-of-7 in field goal attempts. The senior also was the team’s kickoff specialist, recording 6 touchbacks in 8 regular season games.

The Muenster Hornets also went three-deep into the playoffs, losing to Albany 41-0 in the regional semifinal.

Helping them with their tremendous season were quarterback Levi Trubenbach and defensive lineman Jeremy Lutkenhaus, both seniors for the Hornets.

For their efforts, Trubenbach was awarded Offensive MVP honors while Lutkenhaus was the league’s Defensive MVP.

Trubenbach totaled nearly 2,000 yards of total offense (1,809 passing, 626 rushing) in the regular season while scoring 27 total touchdowns (24 passing, 3 rushing).

Lutkenhaus was the anchor of the Muenster defensive front, scoring 66 total tackles, including 42 solo. He averaged 6.6 tackles per game and troubled opposing quarterbacks with 6 sacks. Lutkenhaus also finished with 3 recovered fumbles while forcing 2 of his own.

Other top honors in District 13-A went to Lindsay, named the Coaching Staff of the Year and Collinsville’s Dalton Williams and Cory Ragsdale who were named Defensive and Offensive Newcomers of the Year, respectively.

First-team offensive selections include Lindsay’s Jones, Madison Parkhill, Austin Reiter, Tyler Hundt, Frankie Cornett and Robert Arend ; Muenster’s Jason Luke, Era’s Nathan Metzler, Colt Henderson, Anthony Pellon, Jace Sutton and Trey Dunn, and Collinsville’s David Byrom and Turner Coulson.

First-team defensive selections include Lindsay’s Cornett, Greg Luttmer, Will Taylor, Arend, John Block and Jones; Muenster’s Corey Sicking, Aaron Flusche, Dillon Bayer, Garrett Walterscheid, Andy Flusche and Trubenbach; Era’s Codie Hope, Dunn and Metzler, and Collinsville’s Daniel Grubbs, Jason Evans and Austin Reed.
