Four local athletes were recently named to the 2009 Associated Press Class 2A All-State Team.
Callisburg quarterback Bobby Dorman, running back Langston Jones and wide receiver Kevin Bartley along with Valley View linebacker A.J. Kassen were all selected as honorable mention to this year’s AP All-State Team.
Dorman, Jones and Bartley were phenemonal at their designated skill positions as the three along with the rest of the Wildcats nearly brought home a state championship home to Callisburg.
The trio of offensive firepower helped the team achieve its longest playoff run in school history, falling short of a state title berth after losing to Bushland 42-34 Saturday at Wichita Falls’ Memorial Stadium.
Kassen was a crucial instrument to improving on Valley View’s record from 2008.
While arguably playing in one of the toughest district’s in the state in District 10-2A, Kassen and the Eagles did well enough to finish fourth in the district with a 5-5 record overall and 2-3 in district play.
