VALLEY VIEW — The Valley View Eagles handed the Sacred Heart Tigers their first loss of the season with a 54-50 win Tuesday night.
The Tigers took a 19-18 lead after the first quarter and led 28-27 at halftime, but the Eagles rallied in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 27-22 for the win.
Leading the way for the Eagles was Cameron Vesperman with 25 points while Dustyn Whetzel added 10 points.
Sacred Heart was led by John Krawietz who scored 22 points while Kyle Knabe added 16 points with 8 rebounds and 6 steals.
Leading scorer Kevin Kulle did not play against Valley View due to injury.
For Valley View, Cole Rauschuber scored 9 points, Tanner Paddoch added 6 and David Zimmerer and Scott Willis each added 2.
For Sacred Heart, Patrick Mojica scored 8 points and had 5 assists while Jae Im and Matt Hesse each added 2.
In the junior varsity game, Valley View also defeated Sacred Heart, 41-28.
Leading the way for the Tigers were Austin Springer with 12 points, Ryan Felderhoff added 10 while Josh Biffle, John Paul Hesse and Austin Aldredge each added 2.
Hornets get Bells wrung
BELLS — The Muenster Hornets were defeated by the Bells Panthers Tuesday night by the score of 45-42.
Muenster (7-2) trailed 15-7 after the first quarter and never recovered as Bells led 22-17 at halftime. Muenster did however outcore the Panthers 25-23 in the second half, but it was not enough for the win.
Eric Hellman led the Hornets with 23 points while Jason Luke and Scott Porter each added 5 points. Garrett Walterscheid finished with 4, Josiah Flaming added 3 and Shane Presnall finished with 2.
Next up for the Hornets will be Ector on Monday.
Whitesboro squeaks past Lucas Lovejoy
WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro Lady Cats continue to improve this season, picking up an impressive 47-43 win over Lucas Lovejoy Tuesday night.
Leading the way for the Lady Cats was Jill Schuessler with 14 points.
Whitesboro struggled early as it trailed 11-9 after the first quarter ad 24-18 at halftime. The Lady Cats rebounded in the second half, outscoring Lovejoy 29-19 for the win.
Also scoring for Whitesboro were Katie Guthrie and Katelyn Labhart who each added 12 points in the victory.
