SAINT JO — Several Saint Jo football players recently received recognition for their successful 2009 season.
Eight players from the Panthers Six-Man team garnered accolades on the Texas Six-Man Division I All-Region III Team.
First-team offensive selections went to junior Luke Chaffin at spreadback, senior tight end Josh Hale and junior receiver William Phillips.
First-team defensive selections were handed out to senior linebacker Jake Ellingwood, junior utility man Brady Chadick and junior defensive end Aaron Sapp.
Junior center Luis Solis was the lone second-team offense for the Panthers while senior defensive lineman Joey Lindenborn was named to the second-team defense.
The All-Region III Team is selected by a committee consisting of three districts comprised of 15 teams, including 2009 state runner-up Strawn and perennial power Richland Springs, who the Panthers lost to 71-22 in the second round of the playoffs.
All first-team selections in the region are also eligible for the Texas Six-Man Coaches Association All-State Team, which will be released in January.
