Saint Jo players make All-Region Team

SAINT JO — Several Saint Jo football players recently received recognition for their successful 2009 season.
Eight players from the Panthers Six-Man team garnered accolades on the Texas Six-Man Division I All-Region III Team.
First-team offensive selections went to junior Luke Chaffin at spreadback, senior tight end Josh Hale and junior receiver William Phillips.
First-team defensive selections were handed out to senior linebacker Jake Ellingwood, junior utility man Brady Chadick and junior defensive end Aaron Sapp.
Junior center Luis Solis was the lone second-team offense for the Panthers while senior defensive lineman Joey Lindenborn was named to the second-team defense.
The All-Region III Team is selected by a committee consisting of three districts comprised of 15 teams, including 2009 state runner-up Strawn and perennial power Richland Springs, who the Panthers lost to 71-22 in the second round of the playoffs.
All first-team selections in the region are also eligible for the Texas Six-Man Coaches Association All-State Team, which will be released in January.

- Lady Cats take home Lindsay Tourney title The Callisburg Lady Cats took home the Lindsay Tournament Championship Saturday night, and did so in extra innings, defeating Commerce 2-1.
- Knights one-hit Callisburg for win The Lindsay Knights one-hit the Callisburg Wildcats for a 5-0 win in Saturday’s conclusion of the Lindsay Tournament.
- Lady Leopards' win punches playoff ticket The Gainesville Lady Leopards scored a pair of goals in each half and cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Wichita Falls Hirschi Lady Huskies Friday, giving the soccer girls the distinction of being the first GHS sports team to qualify for the playoffs this year.
- Lady Leopards mercy rule Muenster In their final tune up game before district play starts Monday, the Gainesville Lady Leopards produced one of their best offensive outings of the season with a 17-2 wins over the Muenster Lady Hornets in four innings Friday at NCTC’s Darwin Fields.
