Due to inclement weather Tuesday evening, officials with North Central Texas College announced changes to the schedule of the 22nd Annual NCTC Holiday Classic.
The tournament was slated to be completed today, but a revised schedule was released Tuesday night, pushing the tournament to four days instead of three.
“We know it is a huge inconvenience for the teams and their fans,” said NCTC Athletic Director Van Hedrick, “but we decided that the safety of everyone traveling to the tournament was the most important thing to consider.”
The Lindsay and Howe boys semifinal was not played Tuesday night as scheduled, instead it will be today’s finale and is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
The remaining games to be played today will be the seventh-place games between the Gainesville and Forestburg girls and S&S; and Collinsville boys, starting at noon and 4:30, respectively.
The consolation championship games will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the Gainesville junior varsity taking on Forestburg and the S&S; girls facing off against the Collinsville Lady Pirates at 3 p.m.
On Thursday, the two third-place games will be played back-to-back. The girls game is set as Sacred Heart will take on Lindsay at noon. The boys game will be between Sacred Heart and the loser of today’s Lindsay-Howe game.
Following those games will be the announcement of the 2009 Bill King award winner and Academic Award presentations at 3 p.m.
The girls championship between Howe and Callisburg will start at 3:30 p.m. and the boys title game between Callisburg and the winner of today’s Howe-Lindsay match-up will tip-off at 5 p.m.
All games will be played the Lions’ Fieldhouse on the NCTC campus.
Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for children. Those who buy tickets for today’s games and wish to return on Thursday will not have to pay once again to gain entry into the tournament.
