MUENSTER — The Lindsay Lady Knights seventh grade girls basketball team finished the 2009-10 season with an undefeated record after winning their District 10-A tournament in Muenster over the weekend.
The Lady Knights won their first game over Archer City by the score of 31-10 on Saturday.
In that game, Sydney Ott led the way with 17 points while Emily Otto chipped in 4 for Lindsay.
Also scoring 2 points for the Lady Knights were Kailei Klement, Nicole Fleitman, Tara Atkins, Courtney Neu and Taryn Stringfellow.
In the championship game later in the day, Lindsay narrowly escaped victory over Windthorst by the score of 17-16.
Ott led the scoring for Lindsay with 5 points while Murrill and Atkins each added 4.
Also scoring for Lindsay were Otto who finished with 3 points and Neu who added 1.
Other members of the Lindsay seventh grade girls team are Sarah Fuhrmann, Sara DeBorde, McKenzie Meyer and Jessica Martin.
The Lady Knights finished the season 13-0 and were 11-0 in the regular season.
Lady Panthers clinch
playoff spot
SAINT JO — The Saint Jo Lady Panthers are headed to the postseason after defeating Prairie Valley Friday night by the score of 48-18.
Theresa Barnett and Jessica Ramirez scored 10 points apiece while Kyla Reeves added 9 points and 11 rebounds to help fuel the victory.
Saint Jo (18-8, 9-4 district) led 11-3 after the first quarter and held a 26-8 lead at halftime.
The Lady Panthers cruised to the win in the second half, outscoring their opponent 22-10.
The win plus Henrietta-Midway defeating Byers also on Friday gives Saint Jo a third-place finish at best in the district and a guaranteed playoff spot.
“I thought we came out very strong defensively and did a goob job of making them take tough shots,” Saint Jo Coach Curtis Enis said. “We rebounded the ball well and tried to get into our fast break, but we had a lot of turnovers early in the game.”
Also scoring for Saint Jo were Kara Davis who finished with 7 points while Ashley Dennis added 4. Kate Weger and Haley Hall each finished with 3 points and Chelsea Reeves scored 2
