NTMC heart and lung center returns to regular hours

Gainesville — With Labor Day came the end of summer and the return to regular hours for the North Texas Medical Center Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center.

According to Center director Audi Hayes, the unit has returned to its Monday through Friday sessions and is looking for individuals who might benefit from the program.

“We offer individual plans of exercise and strengthening to those who are experiencing or have experienced heart problems.” said Hayes.  “Some of the diagnoses that would make a patient eligible to attend our cardiac rehab program are open heart surgery, stent placement in the heart artery, congestive heart failure, stable angina, pacemaker placement and heart transplant.”

Cardiac Rehab hours are 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Pulmonary Rehab is available Tuesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The Pulmonary Rehab team works with patients to build an exercise and strengthening plan to fit their individual needs. Some of the diagnoses that would make someone eligible to attend the pulmonary rehab program are emphysema (COPD), lung transplant, chronic bronchitis, asthma and pulmonary fibrosis.

The NTMC Rehab staff encourages interested individuals to visit with their physician and see if they could benefit from rehabilitation.  The public is welcome to visit the facility and meet the staff.   For questions or information about the NTMC program, contact Kristie Early at 940-612-8140 or Audi Hayes at 940-612-8372.
