Depot Days patrons are promised an earful through the weekend’s entertainment lineup, which is set to deliver a barrage of talent and broad scope of genres.
Local and visiting musicians are on tap to deliver two days of just about everything — from folkloric Spanish to red-dirt Texas country.
“We’ve got a good variety of music,” Depot Days Chair Laura Otts said Thursday. “Depot Days is meant to be a family-friendly good time, and these bands definitely fit that. You can bring your kids of any age, and there should be something about one of these bands that will appeal to them.”
The music starts Friday with a night concert by Andy Serna and his Forever Young Band, whose performance should offer both country and vintage rock standards. Admission is free and Otts said the format intentionally mirrors the Summer Sounds music series.
People bring lawn chairs to Commerce Street and take in the show.
“It fits with the relaxed atmosphere of Depot Days,” she said. “You can go to Dallas or Fort Worth and there’s this huge concert, or you can come to downtown Gainesville and have a free show in a relaxed atmosphere and have a good time.”
On Saturday, the itinerary expands and more than a dozen artists provide a soundtrack to Depot Days activities that should fill the air until sundown.
“We have a schedule that works and I think people look forward to seeing these people,” Otts said.

1:45 p.m. — Gunfighters
2 p.m. — Holler Time
3 p.m — Lisa Perry
3:30 p.m. — The Elevators
4:30 p.m. Willie Kick It
6 p.m. — Morgan & Her Boyfriends
