Details remain scarce regarding an apparent homicide on North Taylor Street in Gainesville, investigated late Sunday and early Monday by city police.
A full report about the death of Dallas resident Alberto Gonzalez, 44, is pending with Gainesville Police Department. Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Dorthy Lewis said she didn’t know when Gonzalez was killed, but was called to the scene shortly after midnight to 719 N. Taylor St. pronounce his death.
The death, she added, appeared to be the result of extensive beating. Gonzalez lived in Dallas but owned the Taylor Street property and was apparently remodeling the property at the time of the incident.
Autopsy details are pending with Dallas medical examiners.
“It appears to be that he was beaten,” Lewis said Monday. “He was young and he was working there. There was no motive or any obvious reason — but the police are just going to have to work on it and find out.”
