Gainesville —
The Gainesville Independent School district recently announced a new communication tool for iPhone users called the GISD Mobile Application.
The application is geared to better communicate with parents, students and the community through wireless devices.
The “app” features live calendar feeds, social media outlets, headlines, menus, contact pages and the ability to “push” notify all users of event time changes, weather alerts or reminders.
“This is a cutting-edge communication tool for parents, students and the community,” said Chad Henderson, district media relations director.
The application is available as a free download by simply searching GISD in the Apple App Store. “We are always looking to better communicate with our stakeholders and this is just one more avenue to broadcast all of the great things that are happening in the GISD,” Henderson added.
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Brasher said his school district remains committed to building strong relationships with parents and members of the community.
“This application gives us another tool to more effectively communicate to all of our stakeholders by keeping them informed of all the great things that are going on in the GISD,” Brasher said. “Mr. Henderson continues to do a great job of using multiple communicative avenues, such as this mobile app. It's also important to note that the majority of visits to our web pages are from mobile devices.”
