Sign-ups continue for 2012 Halloween Hustle

Gainesville — Registration is still available for the 16th annual Halloween Hustle Fun Run/Walk set for Saturday at North Texas Medical Center (NTMC).

Walkers and runners will travel five and 10-kilometer courses. The race is USA Track & Field certified and will feature digital bib timers. The entry fee is $30, with registration available right up until race time on Saturday morning.  Warm-up and announcements will take place at 8 a.m., with the race starting promptly at 8:30 a.m.

Awards will be given in various age divisions.  Student teams of ten or more can register for $12 per person, including one adult supervisor. All student team entries must be submitted together. Other groups can register with a $2 discount per walker when five or more participants register together.  Again, all entries must be submitted at the same time. Participants can register online at www.ntmconline.net, or entry forms are available at the front desk at NTMC. One new feature for the Hustle this year will be a “Mini-Monster Maze” for kids 10 and under.  The course will feature a little running, a little crawling, a little climbing and other activities to keep youngsters occupied.  Registration is the same as the Hustle.

Packet pick-up for those registered is scheduled for 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, or on race day.

Other activities planned for the Hustle include an open house inside the main building from 8 to 11 a.m.

There will be booths featuring all kinds of health information and screenings, as well as free flu shots for the first 30 people who request one. Information will also be provided on Halloween safety, stroke, breast cancer, cardiac and respiratory care, ways to stay well and depression and anxiety.

Screenings for blood pressure and bone density will also be available.

There will also be displays featuring Gainesville Police and Fire and Cooke County EMS and booths for face painting and games.

There will be plenty of candy for the kids and a costume contest as well. For more information on the Hustle, call (940) 612-8600.
