Officers investigate weekend shooting

COOKE COUNTY — An alleged shooter’s arrest in Muenster and a drug bust in Gainesville highlighted the weekend’s list of local law enforcement crackdowns.

The incidents were unrelated; both were reported by the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Terry Gilbert said Alex Sicking, 25, of Muenster, is currently bring held on a $50,000 bond following an arrest for his alleged Sunday morning shooting of Lonnie Reasor, 41.

Gilbert said the motive for the shooting remains under investigation by county officers plus members of Muenster Police Department. At 3:45 a.m. Sunday, he said, county dispatch responded to a disturbance call made from a house in the 600 block of East Cross Street in Muenster.

“A person from the house called 911,” he said Monday, adding that he was unsure if Sicking himself made the call.

Upon arrival, officers found Reasor wounded by gunfire.

“He had a large gunshot wound on his side under his ribcage,” he said. “(A deputy) utilized an (emergency) bandage to apply direct pressure until Cooke County EMS arrived.”

Careflite transported Reasor to a Plano hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition as of late Sunday. Gilbert said Monday he didn’t know Reasor’s status beyond that point.

Sicking currently stands charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Drug bust summary

On Monday, Gilbert also reported a drug bust executed Friday in Gainesville. He said his department’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), along with patrol deputies assisted by the Gainesville Police Department’s narcotics and patrol division, operated on a search and arrest warrant at 1000 N. Clements St.

James Anthony Calhoun, 49, was arrested at the residence and charged with possession of marijuana — more than two ounces but less four. Additional search of the residence resulted in the recovery of approximately 3.5 ounces of marijuana with a street value of $3,500, plus baggies, scales, a scoped .22-caliber semiautomatic rifle, $764 in currency, three automobiles and two large flat-screen televisions.
