Cast members have been selected for the upcoming Butterfield Stage Players production “The Red Velvet Cake War,” set to premiere in early March. Tickets will go on sale during February.
The production is another comedy by playwright trio Jones, Hope and Wooten and is the prequel to “Rex’s Exes,” a show that had its world premiere at Gainesville’s Butterfield Stage during spring 2012.
“The Red Velvet Cake War” is another comedy in this series of productions by the playwrights recently presented at Butterfield, including “Dixie Swim Club,” “Dearly Beloved” and “Till Beth Do Us Part.” Set in Texas, “Red Velvet Cake” is about the trials and tribulations of folks in the community of Sweetgum.
Cast members will include Pam Evans as Cee Cee Windham; Sandy Geyer as Gaynelle Verdeen Bodeen; Kat Guyon as La Merle Verdeen Minshew; Wes Porter as Aubrey Verdeen; Renea Stephens as Jimmy Wyvette Verdeen; Shelley Head as Peaches Verdeen Belrose; Lorena Provencio as Bitsy Hargis; Russell Schmid as Newt Blaylock; Danny Winters as Sheriff Grover Lout; Talina Wilson as Elsa Dowdall; Cecilia Hoening as Mama Doll Hargis; and Danny Nortman as Purvis Verdeen.
The production is set to be directed by Sally Page and will be presented on March 7, 8 and 9, and March 15, 16 and 17, on the Butterfield main stage.
