Cooke County —
Four different Cooke County fire departments were called to a structure fire at 12991 E. U.S. Highway 82 last Wednesday.
Units from Callisburg, Whitesboro, Elk Ridge and Gainesville arrived on the scene.
Gainesville Assistant fire chief Wally Cox said that there was significant property loss as a result of the fire, water and smoke damage to the trailer house.
“When we arrived on the scene, the fire had pretty much been contained by the other units,” Cox said. “We were there to initially provide backup.”
Tamara Sieger, Gainesville administrative assistant/emergency management officer, said Gainesville supplied an engine, water tank and pump truck as back up to the Callisburg and Whitesboro stations.
Jody Sailors of the Cooke County chapter of the American Red Cross said that they provided some assistance to the family who has been displaced but she was not aware of any special funds set up to assist the victims at this time.
