'A Day and a Night' event set to feature three headliners

Gainesville — Enjoy music performed by headliners Jamie Richards who is No. 15 on the Texas Music Charts, Tom McElvain & Dirty Pesos and Oliver White during the May 17 “A Day and A Night” fund raiser for VISTO at the Cooke County Fairgrounds.

Bring your lawnchairs and come listen to the vibrant, raw sounds of Texas/Red Dirt music; clap your hands and stomp your feet to classic rock and blues rock.

Tom McElvain & Dirty Pesos is Texas’ hottest music band. They are down to earth, humble and strong musicians. Talented, fiery Oliver White sings tunes and will rock audience members out of their chairs.

The music lineup is hosted by Monte Dutton and starts at 12:30 p.m. with Willy Kickit; 1:30 p.m.  David ByBoth; 2:15 p.m. Jessi Lynn; 3 p.m. Holler Time; 4 p.m. Bad Habit II; 5 p.m. Bone Doggie; 6 p.m. Southtown Rewound; 7 p.m. Oliver White Group; 8:30 p.m. Tom McElvain & Dirty Pesos; and 10:30 p.m. Jamie Richards Band.

Tickets for adults are $5 before 6 p.m. and $10 after 6 p.m. Children under 12 are free. Each ticket purchase includes one free raffle ticket and more raffle tickets will be available for purchase inside the gate. Participants will also be able to join in on a silent auction. Concessions stands will be selling food and soft drinks. After 6 p.m. bring your own (BYO).

The main raffle item includes a Fender guitar and case signed by more than two dozen top Texas/Red dirt musicians.

Silent auction items include a Lyle Lovett autographed guitar, an autographed Terry Bradshaw football, $250 certificate for auto detail donated by Auto Body Concepts of Gainesville, numerous autographed NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers with items that includes hats and posters. NASCAR drivers’ autographs include Danica Patrick, Greg Biffle, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, David Ragan, David Gilliland and Tony Stewart. There will be two Texas Ranger tickets for seats located directly behind the Ranger’s dugout for the June 9 game, two Dallas Stars tickets, two NRH20 Water Park passes, four family passes to Denton Water Works Water Park and much more.

All proceeds benefiting the VISTO agency that operates and maintains Cooke County emergency food bank.

“It will be an evening to kick back and have a rocking good time,” event coordinator Charlene Marrs said. “We will have a lot of stuff to give away, auction off and hope to raise funds to feed the kids.

The new Bosco’s Gym facility located at 1112 E. Main St. in Gainesville is up and running with state-of-the-art equipment and training available. Owner Sarah Galvan is excited about the new center that offers long time patrons as well as new members a place to rejuvenate and get fit. The estimated 7000 square foot facility houses an extensive weight room, work out space, treadmills, a cardio vascular area, aerobics, spin cycle room, two personal training rooms as well as a childcare facility. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
