Filing begins for local elections

Cooke County — Filing for a place on the May 10 ballot for local municipality, school board and hospital district elections will end Feb. 28.

Applicants can file at city halls and school and hospital administration offices.

Cooke County cities that will hold elections include Callisburg, Gainesville, Lindsay, Muenster and Valley View.

Callisburg at large council seats that are up for election are currently held by Nathan Caldwell, Brent Eugster and Danny Powell.

Gainesville council seats that are up for election are currently held by Keith Clegg, Ward  3; Ray Nichols, Ward 5; and Mary Jo Dollar, Ward  6; and Municipal Judge position held by Chris Cypert.

Lindsay at large aldermen seats that are up for election are currently held by Glenn Block and Danny Nortman; and one unexpired term held by Sam Sparkman and Mayor held by Don Metzler. Lindsay’s filing deadline ends at 5 p.m. Feb. 27. Offices will be closed Feb. 28.

Muenster council seats that are up for election are currently held by Jewel Otto, Place 1; Greg Bohl, Place 2; and Pat Stelzer, Place 4.

Valley View at large aldermen seats that are up for election are currently held by John Lester, Tracey Robinson and Carl Kemplin.

Cooke County independent school districts that will hold elections include Callisburg, Gainesville, Lindsay, Muenster and Valley View.

Callisburg Independent School District at large board seats that are up for election are currently held by Steve Berryman and Jay Houk.

Gainesville Independent School District board seats that are up for election are currently held by Mike Rosenberg, Place 1; Penni Nichols, Place 2; and Will Presson, Place3.

Lindsay Independent School District at large board seats that are up for election are currently held by Tommy Haverkamp, Tammy Bezner and Vicki Thurman.

Muenster Independent School District board seats that are up for election are currently held by Ben Bindel, Place 3; and Doug Hermes, Place 4.

Valley View Independent School District board seats that are up for election are currently held by David Pembroke, Place 4 and Ray Sappington, Place 5.

Muenster Hospital at large board seats that are up for election are currently held by John Reed, Danny Walterscheid and Don Richardson.

North Texas Medical Center at large board seats that are up for election are currently held by Derrell Comer, Diana Eichenberger and Gloria Parrish.

The Big Texas Swing School at NCTC will wrap up on July 19 with a concert at the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts on the Gainesville campus. The free concert will begin at 1 p.m.
