The Gainesville Independent School District recently announced the Elementary Academic Team is the UIL District 9-3A champ for the 2012-2013 school year.
The 9-3A meet took place in mid-December on the f North Central Texas College Gainesville campus and final scoring was completed in January. GISD won the district with a total of 406 points outpacing Krum ISD which earned 303 points.
“A clear win for us, wasn’t that close by the end. I am very proud of our students, sponsors and coordinators,” District UIL Coordinator Craig Hertel said. “This just adds to the great things that are happening in this district.”
Lee Intermediate Principal Courtney Stevens said the win is a sign of good things to come.
“I am so proud of the success of our students. I think this is just the beginning for GISD as we continue to make progress in all areas of academics,” Stevens said. “I am so proud of our teachers as well. They continue to prepare our students to compete at very high levels.”
Chalmers Elementary Principal Tammy Fuhrmann said, “I am very proud of our students and teachers because of their great efforts as we continue to earn accolades in this school district.”
