Hospice to take holiday campaign on the road

Cooke County — The Home Hospice of Cooke County’s annual “Light Up A Life” campaign kicks off this year with a tree lighting ceremony set for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 15, at The First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts on Gainesville’s North Central Texas College campus.

Over the past 20 years, Home Hospice has had a tree at Beall’s in the Gainesville Shopping Center for our holiday fundraiser.

Due to renovations at Beall’s, hospice representatives will not be able to sit with the tree as they have in the past, though Gehrig’s in Muenster will still remain a donation location. Instead, hospice representatives are going “On The Road” this year with a “traveling Christmas Tree” from Nov. 23 through Dec. 14. Hospice volunteers will sit at these local businesses to accept donations:

Sundays — Los Mariachi’s Mexican Restaurant

Mondays — American Bank

Tuesdays — Landmark Bank

Wednesdays — NASCOGA Credit Union

Thursdays — Muenster State Bank

Fridays — First State Bank

Saturdays — Zales Jewelry at the Outlet Mall

Hospice staff is being creative this year to give more local residents an opportunity to have a part in the “Light Up A Life” campaign. With more people helping, the staff can accomplish so much more. As usual, mail-in donations are greatly appreciated. The annual campaign is what helps Home Hospice of Cooke County provide such excellent service to our residents in their time of need.

Home Hospice of Cooke County focuses on the unique needs of patients and their families. Special attention is given to the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of persons in this county, when caring matters the most.

For the past 24 years, Home Hospice of Cooke County has served local friends and family and is the only non-profit hospice organization in the county. This means that when a family has no financial means to pay for hospice assistance, hospice representatives will help them with services regardless of their ability to pay — a few of the ways this is accomplished is by enlisting the help of volunteers, receiving memorials and contributions, conducting annual fundraisers and asking for donations.
