Thackerville, Okla. —
Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials announced the death of a 33-year-old Dallas male following a one-vehicle wreck on southbound Interstate 35, near Cooke County, late Thursday night.
An incident report explained Godfrey M. Karima was pronounced dead at the scene — two miles south of Thackerville, Okla. — due to massive injuries.
The report said he was traveling southbound on the interstate in a 2008 Toyota Scion shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Karima reportedly departed from the roadway and then overcorrected his steering in order to return, and struck a guardrail with the Scion.
The report added that the Scion rolled a half-time before coming to rest on its top.
The vehicle airbag deployed and Karima was using his seatbelt.
Road conditions were dry, according to the report, but the narrative added that Karima was drowsy or inattentive when he lost control.
Love County sheriff deputies and Emergency Medical Services officers worked the scene, along with help from the Thackerville Fire Department.
The report said the victim’s body was later transported to Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home in Marietta, Okla.
