At their regular December meeting, North Central Texas College regents approved the employment of new mid-year personnel to help the school keep up with growing enrollment.
Regents met Friday in an afternoon meeting held prior to fall graduation.
The board voted to use approximately $70,000 from set-aside monies as well as funds from part-time wages for six positions to be filled mid-year.
The positions include a full-time librarian for the FlowerMound campus, full-time (from part-time) maintenance position for Flower Mound, full-time (from part-time) business office position for Flower Mound, full-time (from part-time) admissions position for Gainesville, and full-time administrator and dual-credit coordinator for western Denton County.
In other items, board members adopted a resolution authorizing the issuance of refunding bonds and establishing the parameters for the refunding.
The bonds to possibly be re-financed are the 2004 Series bonds that were sold for the construction of the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts. The current bond market is posting lower rates and could save the institution more than $160,000 over the remaining life of the indebtedness.
Board members also voted to transfer $2.5 million from the general fund to board designated reserves and earmarked $332,499 for a roof replacement project for the Administrative Services Center (ASC 100 Building) on the Gainesville campus.
Regents then voted to award a bid for the roof replacement to CBS Roofing Services of Denton. The project will be completed in early March.
Regents also heard from Tom Schalk of the accountingfirm of Schalk and Smith who presented the 2011-12 NCTC Audit. Schalk gave the college an unqualified audit, the highest mark that could be given.
In personnel items, regents approved the employment of Michelle McLaughlin as a librarian, Melinda Carroll as associate registrar, Michael Fire as an instructor in the Associate Degree Nursing program, and Sara Flusche as the department chair in the Teacher Education program.
The board also approved the resignation of Marlene McBride, an instructor in the AssociateDegree Nursing program.
All board members were present for Friday’s meeting.
