Butterfield showcase Thursday

Gainesville — Butterfield Arthouse Productions, in association with Butterfield Stage Players and Gainesville Daily Register, is set to present another in a series of “artist showcase” ceremonies at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Butterfield playhouse, 201 S. Denton St. in Gainesville.

The series, the brainchild of GDR editor Jim Perry, showcases local and regional musicians and artists in what is described as a ”casual, coffeehouse-like atmosphere.”

This upcoming installment features local jewelry artist Kelly Lane whose jewelry has been featured from Dallas to Tulsa, Okla. and in national magazines.

Her unique style, with a Southwestern flair, includes creations that may be just the right item for that last-minute holiday shopper.

The musical artists are a regional duo for Denton by the name of Varian/Reynolds.

The dua play throughout North Texas from Denton to Grapevine to McKinney. Their unique style features “soft 70’s hits and a mixture of Christmas music.”

They just played at the Delaney Winery this past Thursday in Grapevine and will be featured at the “Dickens In The Square” Christmas event in McKinney on Friday.

“This will be a fun evening — one where Gainesville folks can stop by, relax, enjoy the artists, the food and drink while taking a break from the Christmas hubbub,” said event marketing director Frank Mahnich. “The evening features specially prepared delicious and appetizing finger foods, holiday treats and libations. And yes, it is all free.”

The event sponsors are representatives of Parker Yarbrough Real Estate Services and Acme Cleaners.

No reservations are required, and donations are welcomed.
