NCTC riding team thrives

Gainesville — The English Riding team at North Central Texas College traveled to Houston Jan. 25-26 to compete at the Rice University Show.

The team braved the cold well into the night on Saturday as icy weather forced many teams to arrive at the competition late. The weather on Sunday for the second show was much better.

“The NCTC Hunt Seat team did an outstanding job this weekend while showing challenging mounts with stiff competition,” assistant coach Kim Johnson said. “Our riders should be proud of their accomplishments and it was a joy for me to work with them. Their hard work and dedication is paying off.”

In Show 1, NCTC’s Katlyn Kuhatschek of Argyle placed fifth in open fences and fourth in open flat. In Show 2, she was seventh in open fences and second in open flat.

Taylor Dingman of Flower Mound was fourth in the novice flat in Show 1, and placed third in novice fences in Show 2.

Jessica Lindner of Frisco placed second in beginner walk trot canter flat in Show 1. Sarah Buschlen of Houston placed third in beginner walk trot canter flat in Show 1.

For more information on any of the equestrian teams at NCTC, contact head coach Bill Kaven at 940-668-7731 Ext. 4318 or by email at bkaven@nctc.edu.
