NCTC graduates honored

Gainesville — Family and friends packed Lions Fieldhouse on the North Central Texas College Gainesville campus Thursday and Friday to honor and recognize the graduating class of 2014.

Two commencement ceremonies were held last week. Thursday’s ceremony was for graduates of Health Sciences, Cosmetology and Law Enforcement programs. On Friday, graduates of Advanced and Applied Technology programs along with graduates of Arts and Sciences programs were recognized.

More than 700 students applied for graduation at NCTC this spring and more than 350 participated in the two graduation ceremonies.

Twelve students graduated Summa Cum Laude with a cumulative grade point average of 4.00. They included Kelsey Leigh Claney, Eva Collins, Landon Sean Darwin, Carol Daxata Diller, Kimberly Lynn Fazzone, Shauna Deann Fowler, Rosemond Ann Ijioma, Jennifer Lynd Martinez, Angela Ann Mazzitelli, Dawn Marie Richter, Nicole Danyelle Stears and Audriene A. Zare.

Twelve other students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.90-3.99. They included Courtney Rose Antle, Richard James Bogdan III, Wing Kei Chiu, Brett Daniel Driver, Don Paul Ice, Heather Marie Lloyd, Roma Lynn Maslak, Vanessa Leigh Miller, Ginger Renee Roberts, Daniel Cody Spence, Jennifer Louise Sutton and Thomas Edward Trice.

Among the NCTC Honors Program graduates were Mary Kristian Daub, Selina Christine Gourdon, Cayaana Dee Knipfer and Jennifer M. Stone.

Jill Swarner, the 2014 Faculty of the Year recipient, was the guest speaker for both commencement ceremonies. NCTC Vice President of Instruction Dr. Brent Wallace presented the Class of 2014 and certifications of graduates, and NCTC President Dr. Eddie Hadlock conferred the degrees.
